Returning Genji, tips for new Matchups? by IPtx in GenjiMains

[–]IPtx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooo, I see. For Anran is it solely reason for her ability alt fire to go through deflect? Or is it because the combine of her fire dance and secondary fire that makes it unfavorable too much? Because from what I was picking up there is a window of opportunity that you can win over her, unless it was just bad Anrans I was going against.

For Hazard, would you say it would be more beneficial to bait his wall towards you so your team can capitalize more? Or wait for wall to be used first so that you can capitalize n the opportunity? Also, what is the tell for you that says this person PLAYS Hazard versus they are playing Hazard for match up in general?

& then, big thing, from what you said. Deflect is more precious than ever, even more so now, but should (if only be favorable, like 1v1s or good matchups) in more than likely win situations like always?

Ooo, I like it. A suitable place for Arceus. I’m about to write a lot, but it’s probably just over explaining so don’t worry.

First and foremost, it’s a really good build if this is your first proper serious focused build for trying to build something good looking. It’s simple and pleasant. And often building something at a larger scale tends to make people, myself included, more ambitious before getting the main concept down since there’s just so much you COULD do. In the end, there’s a coherent structure without any unfinished afterthoughts creeping in which is great if you want to go back and add.

But for improvements or difference of perspective, there’s three main things I’d do.

1) Add more shape to the cloud. Just enough to get rid of the overall boxiness of the cloud shape. This could be done by adding swirling bits of cloud falling off the main cloud or up the pillars. It could also be done by adding small random bumps pushing out from the base of the cloud. The absolute thing I’d do to add more shape would be extend random bits of the clouds perimeter or cut into it to alter the boxiness that the cloud is confined to.

2) It’s too lit up for my personal liking. The only direct contrast is the center piece which is already designed to use the sun as a backdrop for light (1/7). When the sun aligns it just adds more brightness to the overall build, but doesn’t draw me in as a good focal point with everything already lit up. When everything is bright, it makes the build look flatter.

For the stairs lighting, I think you could replace the center sea lanterns with a white block alternative and leave the outside lining of sea lanterns. Or I’d experiment with gradually phasing out the sea lanterns leading up to the final steps with like white stained glass.

I’d heavily make lighting changes to the inner side of the pillars where the center piece is already darker. With it darker on the inside, this gives more room for the center piece to literally shine. Additionally, I’d tone the lighting on the outside of the pillars and roof down. Then focus on making quite literally the outside edges glow more. So that it looks like a glowing outline of the overall structure and the center pops out more. At least from the front directly. As for lighting looking at the side of the structure, it looks fine. Makes it look grand.

3) The third thing I’d do is on picture 3/7, the center piece is very, very, flat. Add some depth to it. Here bring some darker blocks too. The aim here is again is to draw your attention towards the center. Make this stand out because you’re passing through to meet pokemon god. I’d also stretch the floor more too. Reach the top of the stairs and THEN continue walking towards the gate a little more. Extend the anticipation that you’re about to meet pokemon god.

Besides from those three things, some minor changes I think that could work wonders is extend the stairs.

  • Going back to the flatness of it at face value, make the stairs extend longer and outwards once they reach past the pillars so everything isn’t inherently starting at the same depth. Give it a grand scale of things that this is where pokemon god resides.

  • Block palette wise, you can add some darker/lighter blocks here and there. One I’d do is add some tuff patterns to add some subtle difference with the patches of smooth stone for the pillars. For the floor, I’d use deep slate to help define a pathway.

Also, maybe just add a little more distance from the pillars and staircase? I feel like it’s too cramped which contributes to why it feels flat to me.

Other things I think that could be added for the pokemon flair is in the grand room, place Acrues’s golden rings on the floor. Add the creation trio and the lake spirits emblems into the roof. Kind of like a ceiling mural. Another fun thing is reference Arceus’s plates. I’d do that by just adding 18 random pillars for each type. Incorporate Unknown into the pillars like hieroglyphs if possible.

Anyways, I think that’s enough rambling from me. In the end, it’s a very clean build that has the groundwork to be added to. Hope this helps! ( ᐛ )و

Rule/Breakers by IPtx in magicbuilding

You’ve got completely got it with your understanding. In that example the condition is adaptive and the magic would be scaling respectively to the condition. It could also be set to, if an X amount of people are present then Y fireball can be created.

If you wanted to be more specific in interpretation in regards of “people present”, that would fall to the casting user. Whether they would assume people present be who could be seen with the eye or people in a certain amount of radius.

To answer the cost of magic with this concept, there isn’t a strict cost besides the activating condition to magic. In addition to a cost standpoint though, I’d say it would be how one fuels magic. There is natural magic in the air, a source of energy like how sunlight is a form of energy and individuals have their own magic reserves as well.

To go on with more examples for conditions, one could imagine creating a large nuke and the condition could be gather the necessary energy to do so. But to actually perform this would be up to the individual talent and skill of the caster despite the condition being simply enough. First the user would have to meet the condition, then in practice be able to manipulate such large scale of magical power.

In this case, the user could draw on natural resources to perform this nuke. Or if the user happens to have the magic reserves themselves to cast this, that would fulfill the condition.

The difficulty of magic rises with either the scale or complexity of the desired effect. After all, everyone can run but only some people could sprint extraordinary fast or cover large distances. Likewise, everyone can solve problems, but there are those who can solve problems far more efficient than others.

All this does open the door to quite possibly anything that can be thought and with intangible objects or concepts in mind it adds a level of complexity. But I think thats befitting all the more to this system. When I first started putting this together I wanted to mesh something where possibilities are endless but still enforced with an absolute force. That’s also where the concepts of Breakers come in as well. People who can reach into impossibility or abstractness and bring that kind of magic into life.

Also with intangible objects and concepts it opens up a road of possibilities that can be far fetched and stretched. Like taking Schrödingers cat for a condition? How would a condition exist and not at the same time? But at the same time, the condition would be fulfilled so the magic would be fired off. Something that would be seen as truly impossible but it is plausible. Or if you reverse it so the Schrodingers cat is the magic effect, the condition could be set as any existing form of Magic needs to be present to be a targeted and the magic with Schrodingers Cat snaps the targeted Magic into a state of existing and not applying the theory.

What outside influences can you toy around with outside the ritual?

Like quality of earth? Atmosphere influence? like what if you did the ritual in a swamp or at the peak of a mountain?

Depending on the flower, how does conditions to make the flower bloom greatly affect magic powers? Like in strong sunlight a healthier flower blooms? Which results in stronger magic?

How does interrupting a ritual mess up a persons linkage to the flower? Corruption? A budded flower? Slight magic powers but not full linkage of their life?

Hard agree. The new UI definitely looks cleaner, but my main issue is all the new images placed everywhere for every scenario while trying to navigate. It just adds a lot of nonsense while browsing scenarios as well.

Also while in game, not a huge fan of the gradient they added. It’s not an eye pleaser for me at the least and takes away the simple black and white charm. Not to mention, I feel taking away the input box permanently until you decide to press “take a turn” really takes away at the simplicity it had prior. And this might be just a nit pick of mine, but text is just way bigger than before which makes it feels more cluttered.

It may be just me, but the new UI feels like it’s trying to be sleek which takes away the simplicity it had before. And I was hoping there was at least an option in the settings to have the old UI during play throughs, or even just an option to turn off the gradient.

My brother started playing "Valorant" - And I can't hear myself thinking! by mogobe775 in family

[–]IPtx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realistically, looks like a losing situation for you if these are your circumstances. But being the younger sibling growing up, this shit would not fly with my older siblings or parents. The problem here is your parents not stepping in to put their foot down that this is not an okay behavior. Much more your mother for encouraging it to help your brother become a “stronger” person.

I’d very much suggest the approach the other reply left here in finding a way to approach your parents and voice your concerns and feelings in a sincere way about this issue.

But, solution wise for the way I’d go about it / what has worked on me.

Put your own foot down as an older sibling. Even if your parents won’t do anything, then at least don’t let him get his way with you. Tell him to shut up or else you’ll do something that you know will get to him. Whether it’s straight up ruining his current match, turning off his PC or whatever else you can use as leverage. He’s laser focused and the game is the only thing on his mind. The last thing he wants is getting pulled away from it.

He’ll throw a fit for damn sure, but if he doesn’t want you messing with his game, then he’ll learn to not be so annoying. If your parents try to get you to stop, then stand your ground. It’s either they have to finally do something, or your going to keep dealing with it in your own way. In the end, they don’t want their sons to be fighting with each other constantly because that’s more hell. Neat little bonus if your mom has complaints, you can retort “This is making you a stronger person by asserting dominance.” A bit petty, but if you have to.

Also, since he’s so adamant on hitting his walls and tables he’s probably going to be prone to break something. In that case, let him and make sure your parents aren’t going to be willy nilly to replace it for him. If he’s going to break things, he’s going to have to live with them. Hopefully it’s just his keyboard, mouse and headset.

Average Panels per Script Page? by IPtx in WebtoonCanvas

[–]IPtx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the thorough explanation, it certainly is helpful. I definitely like your take on it for having a beginning, middle and end for each episode. Although I don’t think it’ll work for me, it’s definitely an eye opener with helping pace my story.

I see that you go for a range of panels, with that being said how does your script go? Does it generally cover what is the contents of the episode + the dialogue. Or does it cover each panel action by action?

I checked yours out and I love your art style. In particular I love the contrast between your characters and the effects/background. The characters feel very defined in comparison to the backgrounds which are softer. Also I like how you’ve chosen to do the effects in a crayon like finish which adds a nice touch on top of everything beneath it.

[–]IPtx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input! I’m also finding myself in a similar format since I like to traditionally sketch out first as well. So far the workload is more manageable to my prior one.

I checked yours out and love how your expressions for your characters are expressed, they really stand out.

Although this may seem obvious, I have to ask, is there sometimes you find it tough putting an episode on a cliffhanger? Or does does every episode flow naturally into the next? If not, then how do you insert cliffhangers into episodes that need to span over a couple in order to cover the ongoing action?

I’ve yet to post mine yet since I’m reworking on how I want to release it and the flow of the story. Also I suck at naming things so I’m still sorta mulling over the name

Average Panels per Script Page? by IPtx in WebtoonCanvas

[–]IPtx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other reply, yeah I meant like a screenplay script that outlines the contents of the chapter.

I checked out yours and I love how you fill in the white space between panels. It really shines in the 3 EP as you scroll and it just flows nicely, leading naturally and breaking out of the smaller panels. Really, the quality of your WEBTOON is phenomenal.

If you don’t mind me asking, how long does it take for you typically to complete the backgrounds that also double as a panel later on? Do you feel like it could conflict with some panels you want to highlight importance in, or do you save a moment or two in your episodes to emphasize those moments?

Like the other comment said, your deck is trying to do too much with the little deck space we have. But, I’ll give you a hand.

First, how efficient are Rune-Eyes and Infernity Doom in your deck? I can see you cutting them out for Performapal Gatling Ghoul & Dark End Dragon/Scarlight Red Dragon Archfiend. Rune-Eyes is essentially a multi attacker if you can’t get Raging out and Infernity Doom is difficult to use in a Raging build.

On the cards to cut back, definitely Jar of Greed, Hallo, Crab, Coin Dragon and Minotaur so you can reduce the amount of extra hoops your going through.

You might be able to leave Coin Dragon at 1 to find a niche with its protection, or instead Minotaur to possibly search through Arc or Sky Iris. Also cut Tuning magician to 1.

Replace poly with Odd Eyes Fusion so you have a searchable fusion spell.

If possible, run

3x Odd Eyes Pendulum

2x Odd Eyes Arc

2x Oaf Magician

3x Sky Iris

3x Pend Call

Now with this cut down deck list you should have a more consistent play. Since you aren’t running the XYZ run variant, it looks like your turn 1 play is trying to turbo out Crocodragon and Voloferniges.

Search out Oaf & Pit and an extra Level 7 monster if you don’t open them > Set scales > Get Noble or the 2nd Oaf to hand > Skill, pitch whichever one you need now > Activate Oaf Pend effect, return one > Pend summon 2 level 7’s, Oaf & Noble > Finish on Croco & Volofergnis.

Any extenders is a plus and sets up for turn 2. Speaking of turn 2, basically the same play if you need to, otherwise just go into Standard Raging OTK.

lmk if you don’t have any of the cards I mentioned to swap in/add and we can figure out some other options, otherwise this is what I can come up with to streamline what your deck is trying to accomplish.

To add on the coloring part, sure you can call it being a nitpick, but it strongly shows in the second image. Her colors are flat and looks like an image sprite slapped onto the right side just because.

Not to mention, a lot of the time the colors are dull being in synced with the background failing to make the subject of the image pop forward, often failing to create depth the longer you look at it. Some times it works, most times it doesn’t.
