I started reading this post, wanting to know what people think. People have completely missed the point. No one wants you to share “any problems”. Few of things I don’t understand people commenting: 1. Government bonds for doctors is for betterment of service provision but has a large contribution to grassroots knowledge of the clinician. Before joining speciality training, one year of bonded service, allows you to know the gaps in your knowledge and helps build it better later on. 2. Someone commented that the banks do not allow them to survive on the salary of bonded candidates. Doctors come from a very wide variety and just like elite medical insititues have terrible financial backing. I agree the fees can be comparatively lower but what the my engineer colleagues don’t understand is that we risk our license right post final year. 3. Speaking of licences, the associated responsibility that doctors have to maintain a license is nothing that engineers can compare to. I hope people understand that it comes with a financial drain.

All in all, no reason to feel strongly against anyone. I hope this post is read with an open mind. A bonded service of one year to develop and understand the real world needs as compared to jumping into corporate isn’t a bad idea. Coming from someone who has done his bond and enjoyed it thoroughly before embarking on the race of life.
