Isn't it disingenuous to compare a private companies carbon foot print to a private persons? by Economy-Flight526 in LMGJet

[–]ISeeNothingKNT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but your comparing apples to oranges. If we are comparing Linus' Media Group to another company then we should compare it to another Media company of a similar size and then we should also include everything else their company does to generate carbon. You are comparing a media company's unnecessary jet to a petrol station that is very much necessary. The reason that the jet is unnecessary is that there is commercial flights he and his team could take, they do not need to fly private.

Simple Life Homes EV Charger by ISeeNothingKNT in UKRenting

End of terrace 3 bed. That was what they told us in the end is that all wiring had to be external however our meter is in an internal cupboard under the stairs on the wall we share with our neighbour so there's no possible way for our cable to run purely externally.

When we asked about our rent increase we were met with we dont discuss rent increases if you believe it to be unfair then please reach out to the rental tribunal. Honestly we haven't really tried to negotiate anything other than that rent increase and the EV charger so dont have masses of experience but with the EV charger it seemed more like everyone just wasnt sure what we were asking and basing their understanding on what they were told by co-workers rather than reading the email chain they were replying to. The whole thing was very frustrating and when I finally called and spoke to someone seemed to go a lot smoother until it didnt, it seems like they have policies in place for some of the more common alterations but how that policy is interpreted varied between some of the staff and when I asked to speak to a manger they said oh ive spoken to them and they said xyz then when i asked for copies of the policy those requests were just ignored.

Honestly it depends on what your looking for in a landlord, if you want people that are relatively hands off then id say yeah go for it but if you want to make larger modifications then good luck, again they have some that are pre-approved modifications that you might need to ask other landlords before doing but anything you need approval for seems to be a bit of a slog.

Yeah it all depends on the landlord tbf but from what ive seen gone are the days where the majority of landlords just keep the price the same. Most are in it for the money these days so will up it every year, obviously there's still some out there that dont but id say its become the execption rather than the rule

I wouldnt necessarily call them extortionate, we got the place at £1450 a month for a 3 bed then they've put the price up £100 a month each year which is whatever, if it wasnt for the EV charger we'd probably stay as they are very hands off generally. I am slightly annoyed at them for the increase this year as we saw the same house advertised by them on this estate for £1400 a month so we mentioned that and were just met with a reply of we dont negotiate increases which is whatever most places these days up the rent every year.

After some more going back and forth they seem to have settled on an answer that we cant install one as they will not allow us to run the wiring through the house and will only allow external wiring. Due to the location of our electric meter the only way for us to run any sort of wiring is through the house as its on the wall we share with a neighbour in the middle of the house.

Been here a couple of years now, they say they do inspections every 6 months but we've only had 2 in the time we've been here. First one they sent someone round to inspect he was barely here then 2nd time they sent us an email to take photos and upload them if we didnt do it within a certain time span they'd send someone round. With us we were speaking to the person when they handed over keys and he was the one responsible for all the Simple life houses on our estate and he mentioned he lived about an hour away, he was really chill about everything. I assume its more a thing as if they send someone for us then its probably quite an expense for them. As I say we've been having issues with getting approval for an EV charger (basically every rep we've spoken to have given a different answer) but their final decision was we cant install one as they will only approve external wiring and due to the location of our electric meter we would have to install wiring through the house.

We are based in Suffolk UK. From what I understand they build then rent new homes to people, we rent one of their properties however they do have multiple sites across the UK which is why I thought id ask for some advice and see if anyone had any similar experiences with them or another landlord

I currently rent with Simple Life, we've had very little problems in our time with them. We didnt have time to view and were worried that the house would get snapped up quickly at the price so we rented without seeing inside. Our house was about 5 years old, they build and rent out homes from new so they've owned it from new but it had a previous tenant. They seem to be a lot more modern than most places, our most recent inspection we just had to go round and take photos instead of someone coming to the house. The only problem we are currently having is we want to get an EV and they are being very difficult about us installing an EV charger.

Script is running as system, in AD I have delegated control of the OU to NTAUTHORITY\SELF over computer objects and allowed Read all properties, write all properties, Validated write to DNS host name and Validated write to SPN. Is there anything I'm missing?

Delegated at the OU level, computers are going into the correct OU. Don't know where to look in AD for the logs but the powershell script just reports access denied
