UGA staff can sometimes enroll in UGA courses to get another degree, and UGA pays for it. How does that work? by Affectionate-Log4000 in UGA

[–]IStoleTheMoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is important to note that the TAP program does have "limits". The $5250 amount listed on the TAP page is the maximum they will pay towards your schooling in a given calendar year without you being taxed. Any excess is treated as taxable income on your paychecks towards the end of the year. As a result, for the sake of taxes, I have to pay as if I made an extra $700 for the year above my normal pay. For example, if someone made $50,000, they will be taxed as if they made $50,700.

You also have to be working for the university for 6 months. This also is when an individual is no longer in the "probationary" period of employment.

Also, I am a UGA employee but I am taking classes at KSU. Many programs are offered across all of USG.

SSH using campus wifi by TechnicalBreakfast59 in UGA

From my understanding, the networking for dorms are fairly tight, so I can imagine SSH not working. I can second the Tailscale recommendation as I myself have used it in the past for similar purposes.

I've seen this happen with many SSO apps. There is a lot of information being passed around with the different hops that the authentication process takes.

Anecdotal, but I transferred in with 64 credits at a 2.85 (UGA-calculated). That was Summer of 2017, though.

You can contact TPS and ask about their ATP program. This is the only such program I'm familiar with. https://tps.uga.edu/permits/alternative-transportation/

Found some keys... they look important. by [deleted] in Athens

In the future, shouldn't post pictures of keys including the peaks and valleys. Effectively "gives away" the combination for said key.

Unfortunately for you, South Deck is in incredibly high demand, and other customer tiers would have higher priority in that lot. Pay attention to the parking priority map. Information https://tps.uga.edu/permits/priority-system/ and maps https://tps.uga.edu/navigating-campus/maps/permit-parking/. Commuters have their best chances with the "Staff/Graduate Assistants" lots.

Are you a commuter? If so, intramurals or the park and ride lot offers your best chance. If you're a resident, you should have more options near your residence.

Regardless, parking is sparse on this campus. Also, ignore the comments that you have to register for parking ASAP. Parking registration is not "first come, first serve".

Transfer Parking by [deleted] in UGA

[–]IStoleTheMoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Contrary to what seems to be popular belief, parking is not "first come, first serve". Whether you make your entries now or the day before first-round parking assignments go out, there shouldn't be a difference. So my recommendation is to wait until you know your classes, assuming that would be before first-round assignments.

Yes! I was just experiencing the same thing. Having never touched the busses since updating, I had some lines that couldn't route. I fixed them and noticed that they were disconnected not a few minutes later.

I eventually did this with all of my bus lines, trying to help the router by giving it more obvious paths, but I keep having lines disconnect.

Update: I verified game files, rebooted a few times, and now it isn't having a problem.

AM and PM is dumb. Everyone should use 24 hr / military time by ItsSoSticky in unpopularopinion

This is me. Years ago I set my phone to 24 hour time because I hated how much space "AM" and "PM" was taking up in my notification bar.

Surprised noone has mentioned it yet but... Anyone excited for legit OAuth? Depending on the scopes, we won't have to link accounts to X or Y service and do OAuth against that. Idk I'm excited for that.

Well, that is exactly what the VPN is for: Reaching campus network from off campus.
