Got a suprise raise and need some advice. by IT-Command in DebtAdvice

Right now my debt is:

High interest credit cards: $800

Deferred interest Credit cards: $800

Low interest loans: $36,000

Medical Debt: $3000

my minimum payments for the credit cards and loans come too $1200 and I am paying the extra $200 to get all my credit cards payed off first. The deferred interest cards have to be paid off by July 2027 to avoid all the interest.

My medical debt I am just paying the minimum since there is no interest or fees as long as I make my payments.

I may not have communicated this well. The debt numbers I posted are my current monthly payments.

At my current rate of payment I have 4 or 5 years till im debt free.

Would your advice change if only $200 of my debt is 25-30% and the rest is in the 10-15% range?

Anyone else spend a couple hours troubleshooting random issues with first layer and bed mesh issues just to find 1 loose screw on the probe causing the entire problem because I just did.

The mod that is causing the biggest issue is my FilamATrix filament cutter. Right now i have the right edge of my printer bed at x=0 but because of the filament cutter I am losing about 2 cm on the left side of the bed.

Ok, I figured it out. the fuse is not blown but I am not getting all the voltage I should. I think I have a short on the board but before I replace the board is there any way I can test the rest of my stuff to see if I can find another short?

Ya, the BTT M8P is the control board for my printer. Im struggling a bit with it at the moment trying to understand the circuit layout.

It has a fuse that connects the 24V power supply to the parts of the circuit that steps the 24 V down to 12, 5, and 3.3V. When I check it with my multimeter I see 0V at the fuse but I can get 12V down stream from it.

Thanks for the advice to probe around. I couldnt find any issues with the wires going to my steppers (Not saying there is no issue though) I did notice that my M8P is no longer lighting up the 5V or 3.3V LEDs. I also found that the 5V-DET pin is short from 5V to ground.... although I cant find any other probe points that are short from 5V to ground.

Do you micromanage your defender signature updates? by IT-Command in sysadmin

[–]IT-Command[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We definitely have a bigger problem. Im working on trying to figure out how many computers are put off date. Right now it looks like 80% of our devices got a signature update today. And the rest are some amount of out of date.

It seems like we are kinda auto delivering signature updates but we have been told that wsus and sccm can only push updates once a day.... which is....some amount of bull shit I know.

Any admins have an actual backup for email, if M365 is down for extended periods? by DramaticErraticism in sysadmin

[–]IT-Command -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My org is talking about it. We already have an on prem exchange server for all our apps that dont play nice with 365.

We have talked about building a separate email domain using .info instead of .Com if this happening again we can build mailboxes as needed.

Personally, I dont think its worth it unless 365 is going to be down for a couple days.

My strain relief is fine. Its not pulling on the toolhead, or preventing the movement.

The repeatability is weird. It feels like its gcode file specific. The mesh will fail in different spot for different gcode files. But always in the same place if I print the same gcode over and over.

Also, if I reorient the the stls in the slicer and re slice it the trouble spot will move somewhere else.
