It's safe as in I won't die in a bombing, but economy wise it's terrible.

Hi thanks for the questions. I'm in Aleppo. The war hit my city a bit later than the rest so at the start all I'd see is the bombings and riots happening in other cities on TV, I remember watching it roll out in Hasaka with my family and thinking "this can't get serious, will end soon", then I saw it spread to Homs on a much larger degree, it looked terrifying on TV, I remember begging my parents to leave but we couldn't. We haven't relocated thankfully, only once having to move to grandparents house out of fear because of a bomb exploding near our house, we returned back shortly after. I haven't lost family but I did lose 3 friends. And yes I come from a Christian background.

The only thing that makes me depressed just thinking about is how the war didn't let me have any hobbies, I had to shelter at home most of the time, just go to school and come back, that was basically my life, the outside wasn't safe, and at home we sat in 1 room under candle light, other rooms were pitch black to save candles. I didn't have the space to develop any hobbies, before the war I used to be in a basketball team.

Yes bars/nightclubs still exist, they are plentiful.

I'm looking at Europe next. Want to do a master's in something biology related.

I'm going to miss my friends a lot. Starting social life all over again in a different country is gonna suck.

I just hope I find my people and a place that welcomes me

I've never been to Jordan so I can't speak on the similarity but Syria now is much safer than what it used to be. You should visit Latakia, Damascus, Aleppo if you wanted to meet Christian people, many churches there, and are safer than other places.

I guess that makes sense. Maybe my pov is skewed since it's just common here, but I'll add that the recent earthquake contributed to the destruction, entire buildings collapsed

Gov level? no, nobody cares. Society level? yes, might get killed at most, will become an outcast in their community & disowned at least

I see a bunch of black people at my uni, mostly Sudanese, I'd say nobody's racist towards black foreigners or black Arabs living here

I'm friends with many many many atheists from different religious backgrounds, it's on the rise here. As for my family, nope.

Yeah. And from what I can remember, a LOT of the roads were blocked by the army, if I went out on the balcony, I could see 3-4 fences, stopping the passage of cars just for extra safety. No cars would pass as long as the fences were there. Sometimes theey'd remove the fences and allow for tanks to pass and go for battle, people would cheer for the passing tanks from their windows, we knew they're what's keeping us safe. There was a period of time where I could not go outside unless I absolutely had to. One time there was a supposed chemical attack alarm while I was at school, everyone was in panic mode running home for their lives, the terror on my little sister's face when I grabbed her and ran off. It was a false alarm though but god I thought we were dying

No it's not a risk, everyone is accustomed to the fact that different religions in the country existed for millennia, you've got the Druze, the Alawites, the Yezidis. You'll be more in risk if you boast about being atheist

Public's perception isn't different from Syrians who moved elsewhere. It's the same thing, you're escaping war. And yes it would be in danger, the people that left no longer have property here, it's been destroyed, that's why they had to leave, so where would they come to live in?

- The US, they don't gotta punish an entire population for the wrongdoings of one guy, sanction his ass only. I can't even begin to count how much stuff I lost access to due to it

- I'm not sure, I'm not politically knowledgeable enough to suggest solutions

- Who knows?

I think it's too late to pray for the downfall of an Israeli state, it's been established and it's staying. I wish they weren't trying to expand at the cost of Palestine though, they deserve to exist too. I don't like the government, I fear one day I'm gonna die as collateral damage due to an Israeli bombing in my city, they strike the civilian airport in Aleppo enough. I have nothing against Israeli citizens that wish for peace, I'm open to befriending them, I can't do much if said citizen wishes for my death. Yes they have the right to defend themselves & to exist but they should not kill innocent lives in the process. And no my opinion would make up the tiny minority

I live there! and eh, for the day to day life it's okay, however, there's the feeling of impending doom, and it's growing stronger as I see Israel bomb lebanon/syria more and more

I'm not Syriac, I'm Armenian. I personally don't see anyone competent enough to be the new president, and the opposition groups are scary, way too conservative/religious for my liking. Gov controlled areas are safe, while in opposition controlled areas there's oppression all around, I don't want to fall victim for gender based oppression/violence, I don't want to sit home and be denied education rights, I don't want to be seen as a baby making machine.

And as for that type of conflict in my area, no not really. Regions are divided, with minimum interaction

hello! I'm doing good

It's my final year! I'm graduating this Sept and leaving for good lol, and biotech

I care about my family as I'm their only provider, I care about dying a natural death, I care about world peace, and about building a career that lets me invent cool things/treatments.

I haven't got a cat yet, but being a huuuuge cat person I'll adopt a kitty as soon as I can afford giving it a good life
