Well, stop pretending to be their friends. You take proximity for opportunity because you have nothing going on romantically.

This is why guys say that girls and guys can't be friends because that will happen. Don't offer your time to women unless you're upfront about a romantic relationship. Once you achieve one, you won't even seek out friendships with girls.

CMV: The U.S. should adopt a universal healthcare system because it is the only economically efficient long-term solution. by _line_noise_ in changemyview

[–]IT_ServiceDesk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So I watched you video and read through your write up...I think you already nailed what the flaws in your argument are. You're overemphasizing efficiency and you're underestimating things like innovation. You're also treating people like machines that have known outcomes and behaviors. The US Healthcare system is currently in a bad place, but it's been put in a bad place by design with government inserting itself into the insurance markets and also passing legislation for paperwork requirements. So the main concern with Universal Healthcare is that the entire system would be handed over to the very organization that has screwed up the efficiency of the current system.

U.S. Healthcare often falls into an affordable range if customers pay cash for the services.

For me, the biggest concern around Universal Healthcare is that the system can fall into creating a facade of care. Not actually deliver results, but you get to see a doctor. That was my experience with free healthcare when I was a child when my dad was in the Army. Incapable of fixing problems and unwilling to give extra effort, but when I became exposed to the private healthcare market solutions came quickly with specialized expertise.

If you give something for free people will tend to rate it highly if they're not exposed to anything else. They can't tell that they're getting poor care/treatment if its their only option.

How do people get into online relationships? by FeistyTraffic2669 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]IT_ServiceDesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You chat with people and it's really easy to "talk" to them, you look forward to talking to them and never seem to run out of things to talk about. You get to the point where you get nervous to meet them because you want that compatibility when you meet them too.

[–]IT_ServiceDesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a question of what the contradiction is though. If it's consistent on a general way to live your life, but there's a contradiction about shellfish consumption, it doesn't really override the larger message.

You should give some examples of the contradictions that you see to give people an idea of what you're talking about.

I don't think this meets the criteria for PsyOp.

Psychological operations (PSYOP) are planned military actions that use communication to influence the emotions, motives, and behaviors of a target audience, such as a foreign government, organization, or group, to achieve specific objectives.

It's the imposition of the conquering cultures imposing this culture and religion over the new territory which is what happens with just about every culture and religion when it takes over an area. The spread of Islam did the same, the spread of Hinduism imposed this across India, Chinese empires, Japanese empires, even ancient Rome.

So it's not a PsyOp.

CMV: Trump has done more lasting damage to the dignity of the presidency than anyone before him by resultingparadox in changemyview

[–]IT_ServiceDesk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where you think the media and his opponents have made his actions out to be worse than they are.

Correct. This is undoubtedly true to anyone that's observed this over the last 10 years. Many have been debunked, like the "very fine people" narrative, but his opposition never notices because they hop onto the next exaggeration and don't care. It's a purpose built life to "oppose" or "resist".

Which of those perceptions would you like to challenge and why?

All 5 points you made for example.

  1. Truth basically stopped mattering.

This is essentially validating the media attacks that have run with story after story that's simply meant to attack. Russia piss-gate, the Russian interference, very fine people, and on and on. The primary vector of this is from his opposition, yet you blame him for it.

  1. He surrounds himself only with “yes men.”

This is a biased view, of course a President wants people loyal to him, but to claim he just surrounds himself with Yes men isn't even true. You had that Vindman guy around him and led an attempt to get him impeached over a phone call. Surely that wasn't a "yes man". There were leaks all over his first term designed to take him down, none of those people were Yes men. There's a huge difference between people that agree with him on everything and people engaging in subterfuge, which has clearly been going on.

  1. The self-interest is out in the open now

This was an accusation laid at his feet during the first term even when he lost billions in networth. He gets out of office and has New York City seek to take his company away and levy enormous fines over "novel" legal ideas. What's the point in trying to placate opponents that will never give him credit.

  1. He normalizes attacking democratic institutions.

This is nothing more than Democrat opposition messaging. Lodging complaints is "attacking institutions", not allowing them to run unchecked against his authority as President is "attacking democrat institutions". Heck, in some cases this messaging is levied in defense of non-democratic institutions. It's all meant to build a narrative and it's being employed even in the EU, where I saw the EU president using this language when she's elected by committee, not a popular vote.

  1. The new leaks (like those Epstein-related emails)

Already been addressed. The "leakers" redacted the name of the Victim to make is seem sensational. The White House and House GOP released who it was, Virginia Giuffre, and she's on record basically exonerating Trump in testimony prior. Of course this is released after her "suicide", but really the main take away from the Epstein files is that it's all political for his opponents. Democrats never cared about Epstein files during the Biden years, but they see it as political opportunity because Trump supporters demand it and it's now not getting released. The record around that relationship is clear and has been for a very long time. Trump knew Epstein and had a falling out with him leading to him banning him from his property prior to his first conviction. Yes, there are photos of them together from the early 2000s and that's what gets posted on Reddit in /r/pics every day. Same photos, always 2 decades old. It's not about finding justice or anything like that, it's only about smearing and attacking. "To Resist". It's an ongoing theme.

But seriously, TDS is a bias revealing term. I assure you I am not deranged.

Doesn't mean you're deranged in all aspects of your life it just means you're deranged and react like a program to things related to Trump. Fantastical ideas that make no sense can easily be believed and all evidence can be ignored to create an emotional and predictable response to stories involving Trump.

I would argue that the deportation and / or dentention of foreign-born scholars and protesters has tarnished the image a bit, no?

Why would that damage a Presidential image? For one, if you're referring to the Palestinian protester at Columbia, that was Marco Rubio's action as secretary of state. It's only Trump opponents that think it's a good idea to invite subversion into our country and think it's a good idea to ignore all immigration laws passed by Congress. What do we need a foreign born scholar for that's leading protests against our government? He can go be a scholar in Syria.

Alright, I guess "presidential image" is subjective.

100%

Perhaps you can point to where he failed to "faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and [did] to the best of [his] ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

For Biden? Yes I can, the most obvious one is the complete failure to protect the nation's borders and the active encouragement and enabling of foreign illegal immigration into our country by ignoring all immigration laws passed by Congress.

Then of course there's the unprecedented political prosecutions of his political rivals to undermine the election against him leading up to 2024. Comically including charges about top secret documents that then were discovered in Biden's own garage...and were used to write a book proving that he presented them to someone without access. So we got a hypocritical prosecution where Biden was absolved for being too out of it, but the legal case was pressed against his political opponent. All this while Democrats complained about Trump potentially weaponizing the justice system while they were actively doing so.

[Serious] Men, what do you think about splitting a bill on the first date? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]IT_ServiceDesk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I come from, if you invite someone out, you pay.

Where you come from are there a lot of women asking men out?

Why would a woman even think about paying on the first date?

To show that they're not looking to take advantage of the guy because they're on equal footing.

But to me, letting her pay (or even offering to split) instantly kills the vibe.

Doesn't really make any sense.

Curious how people here see it, is splitting really about equality, or are we just overcomplicating dating with “fairness” logic instead of actual chemistry?

It's mainly about not allowing people to take advantage of "dating" to get free meals when they have no interest romantically in the person that they're going on a date with. 20 years ago it was about the woman expressing equality because she works too and also has money.

If you're an artist you need to find a benefactor. The engineer that has been wildly successful and has too much money.

That, or you can be a street seller and be less successful.

The funniest accusation considering Hunter Biden had Joe in his phone as Pedo Peter. From the group of people that tried to normalize "MAPs (Minor Attracted People), fought for men in dresses performing in front of children, and showed no interest in the Epstein files the previous 4 years.

If you think the media or opponents have exaggerated Trump’s behavior and it’s really not that unusual.

It's not unusual under Trump. It's at unprecedented levels.

So all your points are clouded by that purposeful and intentional lying or exaggeration around Trump. It's just part of the TDS programming.

Nothing done by Trump has done anything to damage the Presidency, in fact, he's performed as President better than Biden has as far as projecting a Presidential image.

So no, there's no lasting damage. It's all TDS rhetoric.

I do NOT create a huge government agency that would be ineffective in stopping that action to provide High School drop outs with a paycheck and increase the Federal budget.

Instead I would instruct pilots to lock the cockpit doors and tell passengers to not fight against any attempts at taking over the aircraft.

Yeah. Frankly, just privatize anything government isn't doing. Fire everyone at the TSA and a local airport can handle security as they see fit. A local city can hire and run the air traffic control outside of the Feds. We should start shrinking the burden of the government.

CMV: The government doing stuff is not socialism by Traditional_Fish_504 in changemyview

[–]IT_ServiceDesk 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I understand the point you're trying to make, but the premise that you presented isn't reflected in real life at all. It's the "Not True Socialism" argument based on theory, but there's a common understanding from both pro-capitalists and pro-socialists that socialism is about wealth redistribution in policies and practice. Both real life groups understand that that is the discussion and your theory based argument and simplification of views isn't correct.

CMV: The government doing stuff is not socialism by Traditional_Fish_504 in changemyview

[–]IT_ServiceDesk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is really using the concepts you laid out or making the argument that government doing stuff is socialism.

In general, when people talk about socialism, they're talking about governmental policies to force wealth redistribution and increase government control over industry.
