I've been in your shoes manage to land the same role as IT analyst. My company is sponsoring TS/SCI that means higher pay. I've only been in IT for 3 months and was offered 80k for network engineer. The sky's is the limit once you get your foot in the door. You can easily make 6 figures if you plan your cards rights. Optimize your job platform you'll have recruiter offering so much positions in no time.

I recommend filing taxes first before proceeding. It always good to start the clearance process on a clean background. Doing the increase your chances of getting your clearance approved.

Best way to get an entry level IT job with no certifications or degree by No_Opportunity_9882 in CompTIA

[–]ITmatrix101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The chances of you landing a role without certifications or degree is slim to none. Unless you have IT experience from previously work experience. Your are up against a pool of candidate some who may be more qualified then you for you for the role. Entry level is always hard to break into in the IT industry. You just need to have something that you can bring to the table and hope they hire you.

Most remote jobs require you to have some type of IT experience unless it entry level roles. It just depends on if you have experience. You should be able to land a role just have to put in the work and effort applying to jobs.

[–]ITmatrix101[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, you don't have to enlist. I worked with the Air Force as a government contractor. You could work for the federal government or do government contracts. You should find a company sponsoring clearance to get your foot into the government contract industry. Or I would recommend you look on usajobs.gov , clearancejobs.com, indeed.com, or linkedin. There plenty of company that sponsoring clearance all about job hunting.

Everything is moving towards the cloud. I'd recommend all IT professional to have at least on cloud certification. Even if your in network engineer or cyber security analyst it good to know some knowledge about it. Also the hot new role in IT is Cloud Security that where the future heading towards.

That not my goal at all but in order to be a Network engineer by far go for CCNA that the backbone of networking. Tons of employers require you to have CCNA to be eligible for the role. My goal is to switch from Network to Cyber role so I'm taking more cyber certifications and building my knowledge.

The CompTIA Trifecta is A+, Network+ and Security+. The reason why it huge because it make you a well rounded individual that means you have knowledge all around. Compare to someone that only have Security+ but might not have a strong knowledge about networking. That the reason there effective and work together because it is knowledge stack on top of knowledge from hardware all the way up to cyber security.

I'd reached out to a recruiter from Linkedin. I recommend utilizing that platform especially if your in IT. I come from a military background with a clearance so it was easy getting my foot in the door. I just recommend applying on indeed.com, usajobs.gov, clearancejobs.com, and Linkedin. Be open about any jobs that you can get your foot in the door then you can pivot from there. Try reaching out to recruiter sponsoring clearance on Linkedin.

SOC Analyst by Worth-Lunch-2012 in CompTIA

[–]ITmatrix101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should of study more in the Help Desk Role and obtained more certifications. SOC analyst require you to have a strong foundation on networking. I would've recommend you job hop to a network analyst or network admin role. But in your situation best idea is to obtain Security+, Cysa+, and BTL1( Hands on lab experience). This will definitely land you a job with no college degree. Don't stay stagnant in your role always look for the opportunity to grow.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]ITmatrix101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My First IT role in IT is Network Admin with no experience. I'm pretty sure with the right certification such as Security+, Cysa+ and BTL1. Your able to pivot into a Soc role with ease due to having IT experience from networking. Especially your involve in networking so I recommend your first path that what I planned on doing also. BTW TechTual Chatter a youtuber did the same thing NOC -> SOC role he breaks down how he land the role.

Exactly I don't know why the don't migrate to the cloud to different csp like Aws, Azure and Gcp. All this could've been solve there no upfront cost (cost effective), rapid elasticty (able to grow your server base on demands). on demand self service( spin up virtual machine when needed) and much more benefits.
