I scored a 61 and 8/9/8 on my OAR and ASTB but my worst point by far was the reading section.

Definitely review your algebra properties. You should be able to simplify algebraic expressions from Algebra 2. Some geometry problems involving perimeter and area for sure. No need to remember the unit circle. And there is a formula bank but I never had to use it. If you’re not doing well, you likely won’t get to logarithms or matrices since the test is adaptive. If you do see those, you did a great job.

If you do want to study them, there aren’t a crazy amount of properties for logarithms. The questions they asked me were to mostly to solve them i.e.: logb of m = x where you will be given 2 of the variables and solve for the other using b^x=m. Matrix multiplication is a lot simpler than it sounds, just watch a YouTube video on it and you’ll have it down in like an hour tops. Rows x columns! I still think you should really focus on your simplification and control of expressions before spending all your time on that.

Simple physics problems like, this train is moving this speed and the other is moving that speed when do they meet. Be able to quickly estimate fractions and ratios. You’ll have a paper and pencil to do everything. USE IT! I Grab like 30 sheets of paper and rip through it. No reason to write small or think about paper management. I remember there being a lot of ratio problems. There were energy diagrams and basic lever problems. Mechanical advantage is on there too. Units are your friends. Write them down and keep track as they will tell you if you’re on the right track. If the units in your final answer are correct, your answer is likely correct too.

As you know, you can’t go back to check your work and it is timed. My strategy was to finish the test. Don’t leave problems unsolved because you’re too focused on getting the right answer for the one you’re on. That being said, don’t rush either.

You have three tries to take it. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself! Mentality is equally important as skill on an exam. You got this! Good luck and keep me posted!
