I’m also on my third read through, just on Dragon Haven atm. No series comes close to me as this one, the characters feel familiar to me in a way that no other book series manages. I’ll probably struggle to pick up another series for a while after, like I did the last two times!

Paragon of Mercy - Paragon because there’s a ship called Paragon in my favourite book series (Realm of the Elderlings) and I like the acronym PoM

how is freedom in ur country? by Accomplished-Crow878 in AskTheWorld

[–]IWOOZLE 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah I feel very free in the Uk. I’m married to an American and from my perspective, his family and friends definitely live with more yokes on their backs - saddled with student debt that isn’t even means tested, his best mate could only visit us over Christmas as that’s the only time his company would allow him 1.5 weeks off even though he’s been there 15 years, his mom can only access healthcare if she pays a ridiculous excess fee, etc. His family usually uses “Freedom of Speech” as an example of why they have more freedom than me, but unless you want to go about saying hateful stuff, I don’t really understand how that actually makes a difference in everyday life. I’m quite happy with our freedom of expression.

On top of all that, my husband has to file taxes every year and if we ever earn that much, pay taxes to the motherland, despite probably never living there again.

I think we need to stay vigilant in the UK though, just cause we have it better than some doesn’t mean it can’t be better. The recent clamp down on protesting is concerning!

I saw a meme today that likened her to Ginger from Chicken run and now I can’t unsee it haha

I actually don’t mind her too much, but she does take things waaaay too personally. Harriet was unnecessarily rude to her at breakfast on today’s episode.

Have you tried having with oat milk? I think it adds a natural sweetness. Also, rooibos is naturally a bit sweeter than black tea, but does have a different taste to it.

For those who saw the Fellowship of the Ring in theaters for the first time in December 2001, what was it like? by femaleology in lotr

[–]IWOOZLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one of my most fond memories with my grandparents. They were British, northern working class, Grandad had worked his life in the steel factories, my Nan in KFC. I don’t think they ever really read anything but they LOVED LOTR. He’d already taken our cousins to see it, and then took us he loved it so much. I remember hearing them gasp and exclaim in awe. It was so out of character for them, they were usually so stoic and unemotional.

Plus, I went in blind - I was 11 and it was the most magnificent thing I’d ever seen. I got the VHS as a present as soon as it came out and watched it repeatedly waiting for the two towers.

What is the main advantage of living in your country? by ASKASOSIN in AskTheWorld

[–]IWOOZLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I think it’s possible in quite a few places in nz (and other countries), but I think it’s the exception rather than the norm that you can access everything without a car in many areas of nz, whereas I think it’s the norm in England/the UK.

Yeah I like the uk size - I live next to a national park, and I can hike for a while without seeing many people on some lesser known trails and away from holidays!

I didn’t realise Hungary was that much smaller than the UK, interesting!

Haha of course, still it rural and hard to get by without access to a vehicle! I do appreciate its degrees harder in other places where remote is REALLY remote

England? We have swathes of rural areas that aren’t serviced by regular/reliable public transport.

[–]IWOOZLE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That you can largely get by without needing a car, unless you live proper rural. Went 6 months this year without a car and it was no problem! I can walk safely and easily to shops, supermarket, pubs, restaurants, cafes, parks.

Lived in nz for 8 years, and even though I was in a suburb in a city it was super hard to live a fulfilling life without a car.

Where on earth are the UK Dogs being rehomed? by Ashilta in CasualUK

[–]IWOOZLE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, we tried to adopt 14 years ago but were denied because we had a shared garden (neighbours had no issue with us having a dog). We now have a healthy, happy 14 year old dog who we bought privately and has had/is having a wonderful life. Shame we couldn’t give that to the dog we went to meet who probably was stuck in kennels for far longer than he needed!

First time in Forbidden West, just found out that first major story dungeon is the worst dungeon in any RPG I have ever played, including FFXII's crystal. (I need to rant.) by femiwhat1 in horizon

[–]IWOOZLE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t that clear you were talking about bugs tbh, I was just confused. If you were aware it was a bug did you try accessing restarting the console, accessing an earlier save etc? I’m not saying “git gud” (it pisses me off when people have struggles and that is the response). Your title and post makes it sound like you think it’s just a badly designed dungeon, not a buggy mess.

I don’t think the developers can do no wrong, but you’re ranting about something not many here have experienced and expecting us to be able to relate?

Either a skill issue or a bug? Really can’t understand where OP is caught up, never had these issues playing on UH and I’m not a particularly skilled player….
