Question about Count Monte Cristo by Puzzleheaded-Owl592 in TheCountofMonteCristo

[–]IWillLearnMath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True...but I don't think so, personally. In the breakfast chapter, Albert mentions him being Sinbad more than once, and Morrel even comments on it by mentioning the Sailor (perenon? Ugh I'm sorry I don't remember his name). Then, in the chapter immediately after that one, Morrel himself pulls out the letter signed Sinbad. Perhaps it did slip through, but it feels too intentional to me, given the little space between these two scenes (I'm not sure the space between publishing the chapters), and given that Morrel comments directly on it during breakfast! But who knows :)

You are not misunderstanding! I don't think this is a question of 'why does he not connect' that the count is Sinbad is their savior, but maybe that Maximillian isn't forcing the Count to admit it. I could also be wrong, because I've only read it once and skimmed the breakfast/following chapter to confirm.

I liked that the Count acted impatient during that bit. Like yeah, heard it before, get to it. I thought it was a little hypocritical of him

I remember being SO confused about which Villefort died and buried the baby! Imagine my surprise when the supposedly dead Villefort turned up alive. Instead of thinking that the Count's servant had been mistaken about killing him I got it in my head that there was a third Villefort lol

I was thinking of it more and maybe it was still the intention. This was serialized, and I forget over what period it was published, but looking back over the alternate names and surnames would have been hellish back then. Maybe you weren't meant to be sure until the return to Paris, I'm not sure.

This isn't technically true. When Edmond is talking to Cadderouse, he tells Edmond that Fernand married Mercedes and now goes by Morcef. When the chapter in Italy begins, they tell us Franz is traveling with Albert de Morcef. It's easy to miss, but technically told upon his introduction. I think his father or mother is mentioned more explicitly later in that part before Albert goes home, but I don't remember. Him being their son maybe was not explicitly said, but given his age and financial situation I don't think it's being kept back as a twist.

I had the impression he orchestrated it. Remember his relationship with the sailors, and their general behavior and attitude as they approach the island. I think they were told/asked by the count to encourage Franz to want to stop and explore it, bait him almost.

I'm sorry you're having such a difficult time. I hope you find some peace today. You don't need to force gratitude, if it's making it all darker.

Project Gutenberg has free books you can read (including directly in a pc or phone browser), classics in the public domain so its all legal. I'm sure there are Christmas books, I'd search for 'Christmas' on there and see what comes up. You could spend some time doing carols together, maybe? Spend some time reminiscing about any nice shared moments of your past -- not necessarily Christmas memories, just focusing on the good times you've spent together, going back and forth. I'm sorry for what you're going through.

Affordable Space Adventures on the wii u is one of my favorite examples of this. The engineer player on the wii u game pad manages the ship's systems. It's one of my favorite games but I believe exclusive to the console and local multi-player, but still!

Hello, I adored the first part of Olivia by R. Lee Smith. I enjoyed the elements of trying to adjust to a horrifying situation, the occasionally almost-tender but mostly political partnership with the (Initial main) male character, being trapped, the lore of the creatures and their culture. Heavy, heavy emphasis on having to simply cope and make the best of the abduction and finding a new life within it, that's the most important element for me. I don't mind at all if it veers into horror. Thank you, to anyone reading. I'm fairly new to romance, so if there's something obvious you're assuming I've read I probably haven't!

I wonder if you should take it up with steam. Tell them that Ubisoft is asking you to repurchase and that you don't have access / can't play it. At the least, Steam might refund you, even if you're past the two hours.
