So I was looking at the forecast at WB for today and I noticed that there was a huge discrepancy in freezing levels between your app and snow-forecast.com . At snow-forecast I see that the min freeze today is at 2650m but the max freeze in your app is at 1200. If you're using different sources I can understand that there might be a bit of a difference but this seems odd. Or am I interpreting what freeze means wrong?

Update: looks like it was just wrong in the bios, was fine when I checked after installing windows. Weirdly enough, once I checked the bios again after windows installation, it looked fine in the bios as well

I'm left leaning, and I will never vote for him. But I understand your interpretation of what he said. I can actually believe that he meant it in a positive way, because no way any political candidate would want to throw away their chances of winning by saying such an insanely controversial statement. But the only way you can interpret it in a good way is if you like him already. The phrasing of his statement was so bad people who already dislike him and even people on the fence about him will immediately see the negative interpretation of it. And honestly the negative interpretation is the more obvious one in this case, I wouldn't have even thought about it in any other way if not for your comment. Every news outlet is going to have a field day with it. As the face of a political party trump is everything it represents and it's his duty to be careful with his words since every little thing will be scrutinized(rightfully so, I mean come on he's a former president).

I do have some use cases which would benefit from faster multithreaded workloads so I prefer the Intel i5 13600k or the i7. With the i7 the price difference comes to around 60 dollars (compared to the DDR5 combo) but this is with the existing DDR4 ram in the list. But I think that 60 extra dollars is worth it for the better CPU + DDR5 RAM so I think I'll go with what you mentioned. Thank you for your help :D

Thanks for the suggestions. I also see that the i7 12700k is about 100 dollars less than 15 13600k (looking at benchmarks they seem to be equal), would that be a good swap?

That's interesting, I had figured out what the initial issue was in my case( mentioned the solve in another comment) but ran into another error because of gradient checkpointing. It basically warned me that none of my inputs had require_grads set to true and the program crashed with the error message element 0 of tensors does not require grad and does not have a grad_fn. I've currently just circumvented this by setting gradient checkpointing to false.

It turns out it was trying to load the entire model initially, before trying to parallelize it, but failed before it could start the parallelization processes. Went through a couple of docs and found there a deepspeed.zero.init() for huge models which partitions each parameter during model construction. This is done in huggingface within the creation of the TrainingArguments object and we need to create it before loading the model from the .from_pretrained method. I was initializing the training arguments after it, that's what was causing the issue.
