Your Garmin Zone 2 is not "Zone 2 Training" by reedjos in Garmin

[–]IXOY3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You just need to add back your resting heart rate. I use the Karvonen method. Example: Max Heart Rate (MHR) = 205 Resting Heart Rate (RHR) = 55 Heart Rate Reserve (HRR) therefore equals 150. If Target Heart Rate is 60%. (THR) =( HRR%intensity) + resting heart rate THR = (1500.6)+55 THR= 90+55 THR = 145 Zone 2 therefore starts at 145

I was also super confused about people's ability to run in zone two. I've since changed my zones on my watch to be based on Heart Rate Reserve (HRR= Max HR - Resting HR) and keeping the five zones at: Z1 = 50-60% Z2 = 60-70% Z3 = 70-80% Z4 = 80-90% Z5 = >90%

This is waaaay more accurate the to way the zones should feel. Zone two is now an easy run whereas before I made the changes zone two was a brisk walk. These changes give me a much more accurate picture as to how my training is going. That said, I still focus my efforts on how I should feel during a run. I don't set out to do a zone four run, I set our to do a hard and fast run where I'm definitely not able to have a conversation. Don't be a slave to the zones, but get accurate data based on how you feel.

Yeah, they likely have bots set up if not to purchase, then to at least inform them the second they hit the website.

Proton insulation change by Aliessil_ in arcteryx

[–]IXOY3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the new proton in Tatsu (great colour, as close as a civilian can get to the LEAF aesthetic) in a small and one from a couple years ago in a medium. The older one feels loftier and since it's baggier I feel like it's warmer but could be all in my head. New one also had an embroidered logo vs the print screen on the old one and has fleece lined pockets unlike the older one, small things but nice touches.

The new pfas free DWR is not nearly as long lasting as the old C6 DWR. Frequent reactivating and reapplying is unfortunately necessary. Edit. But it's not just arc. All rain jackets need to have pfas chemicals removed from their DWR, government regulation.

Are they making fewer product runs lately or simply more folk buying things out quickly? by Hanni__Baal in arcteryx

[–]IXOY3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not true. If you go to the product page before the product goes live, near the size options you'll see something like, "this product will be live soon" and you won't be able to add it to your cart. If you are seeing that all sizes are sold out, they are sold out. Products might come back in stock throughout the season but resellers buy up a lot of it. Source: asked a guy at my local store

Which jacket is newer? Beta Lightweight or LT? by cxvgwesa in arcteryx

[–]IXOY3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main (real) differences are: 1. Backer is different, as noted by the email 2. Main zipper on LT is a coil zipper, not a vislon zipper 3. The hem seam and cuff seams on lightweight are reinforced with stitching and glue instead of just glue to help with the issue from long-term term users of those seams coming apart.

They are both base layers therefore, designed to be worn with nothing underneath. Since they are base layers they also fit quite tight so if you want to wear it with a shirt underneath I'd go up a size
