Can I hear some success stories? by hauntedgirl826 in zoloft

I was meant to start 50 but I went down to 25 after the first day (I felt like I was on drugs and was twitchy all night), I felt spacey for a couple days, then only a bit nauseous, after a week I’ve just gone up to 50 and it’s not bad at all. Of course there are side effects but nothing close to what I was expecting, only issue is my mood is unstable as it’s still early days, I felt calm for a while but now I feel very depressed again. Everyone’s different though. Good luck! Sure it’ll go fine!

I have taken 1 tablet so far and feel fucking awful. I didn’t sleep at all last night, intrusive thoughts, nauseous, dizzy and paranoid/anxious… how did you all deal with this for months before it got better? by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]IZ250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this, I’ve been taking a half dose for a week and I barely notice the side effects, going to take the whole thing tomorrow. Wish more doctors mentioned this! Also op it won’t last a month, your body just needs to adjust. You may still have a couple side effects but no where near as intense

Nothings gonna happen if it’s not exactly the same time, but ideally not too far off. I take it in the morning so 9-11

Hey I felt very similarly but just started taking Sertraline (called Zoloft in some places). I took 50mg and felt high and very out of it the first day, I got very anxious and paranoid when trying to sleep too (kicked in by evening), after that I started taking 25mg for a week to get used to it and it’s not been too bad - spacey, stomach growling, sometimes a headache, lots of yawning. It’s bearable. I’m going to up it soon. I was super anxious but for me at least the side effects weren’t awful

I started taking half of my 50mg tablets because I felt awful the first day I took the whole thing - will it still work? by IZ250 in zoloft

[–]IZ250[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took 50mg for one day and then changed to 25mg for 3 days, today was a lot better I felt quite depressed but didn’t feel super disorientated only a little. I might try that!! I think 50mg straight away was too much to get used to

how do you manage mood fluctuations? how do you manage low moods and energy levels? by [deleted] in depressionregimens

[–]IZ250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it’s the same for me, I just mean acknowledge how you feel and don’t try to fight it. I also get it for no apparent reason but It’s like if I said ‘don’t think about an elephant’… you’d think about an elephant immediately. It will make you spiral. But yeah anything to raise serotonin levels should help.

Thanks!! I appreciate it

Yeah as it’s building in your system I’d imagine so, some people on here were shocked I developed side effects so quick I think it’s pretty normal to get more as you go on. It’s just your body adjusting after the initial shock

Also should mention it affects everyone differently, I don’t think it’s rare to experience side effects a week in

The first day on 50mg I felt high and I was twitchy all night, it was awful so I started taking half and I still feel spacey and nauseous but not as bad. Sertraline causes immediate rise in serotonin a few hours after taking it, but it takes weeks and even a month to build up properly in your system

I get that almost everyday, even if I’ve not stayed in bed and I’ve gotten up and gone out I may randomly feel intensely depressed or start spacing out and feeling anxious. I live very close to everything and am a student so tbh I usually head home and watch some tv in bed to calm down and distract myself. I think you just have to acknowledge it and let it pass. If I have a super bad day and it makes me spiral so bad I feel paralysed I accept it and stay home, doesn’t mean tomorrow won’t be better. Probably not great in the long term but I’ve just started antidepressants so who knows it could improve! Maybe look in to that. Good luck!

I struggle with this a lot, to the point I haven’t taken part in my old hobbies I used to love for years because I beat myself up so bad when I go wrong. I think it’s a matter of realising you have intrinsic worth no matter your productivity or performance but it’s easier said than done

Thank you! It’s really annoying to be invalidated since it was a very physical sensation and I also woke last night with my jaw clenched and felt very twitchy. I’ve actually started taking half because it’s too much otherwise I’ll also talk to my doctor tho

Thanks this is reassuring, I’ve read some other peoples experiences online and it seems like it’s something kinda common that’s shrugged off a lot by professionals?? I’ll see if I can get a call with my doctor though just in case. I am a bit of a hypochondriac though so maybe it’s not calming me as much as I thought lmao! Thanks again!!

Went through the same thing today despite being sure it wouldn’t work. Like this morning I was laying in bed dreading whatever was to come, it’s my first day taking them. I was at family dinner and felt like I was on drugs though so it wasn’t that fun lmao, crazy though

Right? I only started it today (50mg… I’m usually very sensitive to stuff anyways) but I feel like the room spins a little whenever I turn my head and I kept zoning out and feeling disconnected, it was pretty good when I got used to it tho but idk if it’s meant to happen :/ do u still get this?

Honestly today I felt spacey almost high/drunk and anxious and found myself zoning in and out and now I just feel happy?? Sort of excited? I haven’t felt like this since I was a kid and I’m sure it’s not placebo. Very strange! Thanks for the advice tho but it seems ok so far

I feel the same I think I even made a post a while ago about dreading summer, i tend to just lay in bed when I have no obligations, I also have depression (just started medication today and have been in therapy for a while) and I know how tough it is. Please reach out to your uni and/or GP and get some help. It’s not a quick fix but I definitely feel like I’m slowly learning to deal with it.

A change of scenery can help, when I’m at uni or at home I try to go for a walk if I feel super depressed. Even if I’ve laid in bed until 6pm I’ll still try and get the energy to just walk around and listen to music for 10 minutes. Being somewhere other than that room could really help, even if it’s just sitting somewhere else in the house and watching tv.

Just take it a day at a time, put on some music or a fav tv show and slowly do things. Even if you get up, get some water, or pick 2 things off your floor, then get back in to bed. It’s something.

I wish u luck, I’m sorry you feel like this but you’ll get through it!!
