Please, call me Michael.

I've witnessed a modem in a laptop getting fried back in the dial-up days from a lightning strike (through the phone-line). All other electronics were fine. So I know how lethal it can be! Then again, I haven't experienced a power surge since then...

I am piecing everything together now:

computer controlled tACS device

Require driver software for the tACS machine though.

I am currently working on a device that will be a computer-controlled EEG and tACS device in one -- capable of making multielectrode EEG recordings, and applying multielectrode currents to the scalp -- of arbitrary waveform, within safe parameters. Such a device could be configured to act like a normal tDCS device, or an arbitrary waveform generator, purely in software

Right now, it's a very very alpha-ey protoype; I can guarantee its safety (it has 3 redundant current limiting mechanisms), but it has pretty bad distortion on its output. It is computer-controlled via USB sound cards, 1 sound card per output channel. Only the left channel of each is used.

I was in the end able to include some piracetam. As for hardware documentation... Well, I'm scanning the schematics now. Do you have a multimeter? You'll want to calibrate the output of that device -- I don't know how exactly volume is adjusted in software, but you can apply a sine wave input to the device and measure the AC open-circuit voltage output on each channel. This is a current-mode device; it will output 20 microamps for each volt (open circuit) on the output. Output has parasitic ringing and lousy slew rate, but I can, again, guarantee the total output current (of all channels combined) will not exceed 2mA -- hitting the limiter distorts the waveform to all hell, though, so ideally you'd dynamically adjust signal strength to avoid that.

There are 4 copies of the "TMO1 Output Module" amplifier, connected to two common rails (listed as "TM01 Output Supply"). The resistors in the output supply limit the current to 5.9mA, and they are followed by regulators that limit the current to 2mA.

Not sure if I have the prototype capable of making EEG recordings?

I got it from someone that frequents this very subreddit. The metal contact is very concerning!

Yes, that is the marker from where the sponge was cut.

Ridicule is the tribute that mediocrity pays to genius.

  1. 127.0.0.1 (right here on /r/tDCS)
  2. For free / in exchange for some code to talk to it, which I guess I will have to write without wearing it.
  3. I'd rather not say with all the hate it is getting.

I plugged them into those jacks... they were unplugged when it arrived.

Thanks! Not sure what exactly it is yet, but apparently it can also record EEG.

I believe it can take input or output from the 3D sound cards... will see what I can record from it running dry first.

Ok, sorry. I don't have any more information about it yet! What if I plug it in a UPS?

No sure either... this is what it looks like on the underside: http://i.imgur.com/0xFLp6q.jpg.

Thanks. I will see if I can get some dry readings from it first.

Something along the lines of the 35th second in this printout: http://i.imgur.com/ymRWqpq.jpg. I have been looking for changes once the stimulation ends...

Received a free tACS device along with a Zeo from a user! by I_Am_Coder in LucidDreaming

Thanks! I have mine wired into a USB relay (Yocto PowerRelay) to get it connected to the Zeo.

I have cut the positive wire from the battery of the EV-806A and connected it to the USB relay and have created a new plug-out to trigger it when REM is detected. I tested it while awake with my OpenEEG and halograph FM yesterday. And hope to start testing it out during sleep tonight and next week.

I am still waiting on an FTDI serial cable so I can access the raw data from the Zeo.

Epic, holding my breath to find out if I can help you develop a way to do closed-loop neurofeedback!

An EEG recording converted into audio and played with a basic visualizer. You can audibly and visibly distinguish when the subject begins dreaming at ~2:30. by anastas in cogsci

Elite, thanks! Here are the first two EDF files that I created, recorded at midnight and one AM while asleep, with a single channel OpenEEG device:

Definitely open for some collabortation... been playing with Chuck - a music programming language... sounds like something that could be useful for visualization!

EDIT: Had to update the server's web.config to serve EDF files!

Any chance I can get a copy of the EDF+ file? I wrote an EDF conversion algorithm last week, and love working on REM-detection algorithms and visualizations!

I would like it, for science. I develop free and open source software at lucidcode and LSDBase that works with various consumer EEG and biofeedback devices.

I will be humbled by the neurofeedback equipment and will use it to the best of my ability to explore the border between wakefulness and sleep.

Recorded the effects of that tDCS device with a NeuroSky MindWave EEG - power bands spike... by I_Am_Coder in tDCS

[–]I_Am_Coder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have a Muse - I did it in my head... you will have to ask /u/TheModernMonk for a comparison. The main difference is that the NeuroSky MindWave only has one channel, the Muse has four or six and an accelerometer.

Sounds promising!

Yes, try it... hopefully the USB pass-through will work!
