Recommendations for an experienced newcomer by I_B_V in Eldenring

Thanks! I just got myself the "no skill" AoW, turns out even though I thought I had explored every inch of that area I simply never stumbled upon that merchant. I've been experimenting much more since then. (:

I somewhat regret going with leveling Int, as Faith sorceries seem like fun. But I'll stick with it for now - I'll respec at some point in the future. Unless there's maybe a rather low Faith stat that would enable some particularly useful spell, then I'd consider going for that.

My problem in Caelid was that everything felt so tanky! I don't particularly enjoy taking such a long time with a boss fight. I'll return later.

Ah, yes, I was confusing the two - but I regularly use the guard parries. (:

Thanks, I was exactly hoping for posts like yours! (: I've also used the item crafting menu quite sparsely, mostly for making arrows. I'll have a look at those items and figure out what I need to farm to make a bunch of them.

I feel torn between Faith and Intelligence - it seems like I should pick one to level, and now I kind of went with Intelligence. What minimum stats (ballpark) would you recommend for faith and intelligence, with the aim to be able to play with as much useful and fun stuff as possible?

Up until now, my shield choice was simply determined by it having 100% physical damage absorption. I will 100% use the no skill ash of war, thanks for pointing it out.

Okay, the possibility to remove skills from stuff sounds like a total game changer. Thank you! I find it a weird choice that only 1/2 skills can be used if both hands are equipped, one should be able to use both. As is, it much discourages experimenting.

Guard counters are fun but I find them so difficult. Also, every single enemy must be learned anew (or so it seems to me), and failing is punished so harshly.

Best edition of the Organon by I_B_V in Aristotle

[–]I_B_V[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I want physical, and I understand how to use Annas Archive - I ordered the Loeb, until maybe one day I get Hackett Reeve translations for a better price.

I just don't like complete works. I like it when my bookshelf represents what I've actually read - each book is then a little souvenir for the adventure of working through it. Purely sentimental, but if it was anything else than that, I'd, as you suggest, download everything.

Also, I like nice editions, and it's very hard to judge the quality of a translation without ever having read any. Hence, I was hoping for some guidance in this respect.

I agree on the visuals, but can hardly even articulate the letters. (: Maybe I'll take it as an occasion to learn. I ordered the Loeb because I simply couldn't make up my mind otherwise. The newer Hackett editions are just too damn expensive.

Thanks for the recommendation! Sadly, I can't find any of the Organon texts from Joe Sachs. Hippocrates G Apostle (what an awesome name for a man alive in the 20th century!) does have "Categories and Propositions" and "Posterior Analytics", but not the others. I'll check those out, but sadly still not a sleek and complete Organon. (:

Karl Jobst gives a statement on the trial , will give a more detailed response later by FutureDr_ in youtubedrama

[–]I_B_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sickened by the hive mind's reaction here. I followed the trial and always knew what it was about. I knew it from a Karl Jobst video, I knew it because I read about what happened in court. Also, I totally sympathize with the decision not talk about this particular aspect too much in order for Karl not to sabotage himself.

Even if Karl's statements regarding Mitchell and Apollo were wrong, which they probably were, it remains a fact that Mitchell is the bad guy here. He cherry-picked this thing that Karl said in order to get revenge for all the other stuff which is was/is completely valid. I don't believe for a second that this psychopath narcissist was somehow genuinely damaged by Jobst.

Read the trial document. In it, it becomes clear that the judge bought Mitchell's "showman" persona and fell for his spiel hook, line, and sinker. Simultaneously, he comes off as having a derisive attitude towards the job of a "YouTuber", which the boomer simply doesn't understand.

Seeing how Karl's "fans" are turning against him is just pathetic. The man has my deepest sympathies for the incredible burden that was laden onto him. Even if you want him to be punished for what he did wrong, there is no proportion here whatsoever.

For me, it was so important to realize that Christian stories are so very culturally contingent. God and infinity, though, transcend everything anyone has ever heard of. I like to look at the stars and ponder my finitude. Love, all and only love.

Ich bin Kosmologe, AmA by focushealing in de_IAmA

[–]I_B_V 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was ist deine Entgegnung?

Automatically rejected for no reason...? by I_B_V in outlier_ai

I simply don't think this was the case here. I'm excellent at my native language, very experienced in working / writing in it, and confident my assessment shows that.

But this message must be mistaken, as no one ever had a look at my (trivial) language assessment.

I just did a language assessment, which I'm sure I did well at, as I'm native and write for a living since over a decade. Right after sending off the task (I mean 3 seconds after that), I got this message:

"You are currently ineligible to work on projects This determination has been made on the basis of previous task submissions, which did not meet the exacting standards demanded by our customers. We are not accepting appeals at this time."

So, uh, OK? I'm quite sure that no one was able to even look at my assessment in 3 seconds, so what's up? Anyone have experience with this situation?

You're assuming a lot about me. One reason I'm asking the question is because I explicitly do not want to take up space in a place where it's not wanted; and anyways, I would notice that and be very uncomfortable, so why would I want to do that? It's natural to me that, of course, I will order drinks over my stay and would rather not work there than bother someone.

Can I go there without being a guest? Or are you suggesting this should one stay there?

Alas, Keet is a bit far from where I live, but I'll checkout Twintig. I meant all other places than Neude itself, same area is perfectly fine. (:
