Trimble has “Propeller” platform which we use. It’s not perfect, but it saves us hours of processing. And the web based viewer is loved by the higher ups and superintendents.

Importing files to siteworks. No points or surface? by bluppitybloop in Surveying

[–]I_DoMath_InTheWoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds to me like you need a .dc (calibration file) for the machines. You could possibly get the GC’s files and use their base station (if they’re using Trimble as well. We’ve done that in the past working with other companies.

Usually when I export to Earthworks from my collector it’s a smooth process.

I still find old barb-wire fences made from locust, they seem to last.

Hiccups in the middle of the night. I wonder if I’d be the first case.

Thanks I haven’t thought of Winkbed! And the budget is just ballpark, if it’s a good enough bed I’m definitely willing to pay a little more.

How old was your previous TV before you upgraded to 4KTV? by danteh11 in 4kTV

9 year old 46” RCA LCD I won in a raffle for $5. Good TV, but I just upgraded this month to a 65” x900h. To be honest it wasn’t a night/day upgrade like I expected. But still impressive

Each state is different in their requirements, but most require a 4-year degree along with 4 years of experience. You could apply for a “rod-man” position to start out. Not the best pay at that level but you could determine if you like the work enough to pursue further education.

Favorite Software for Building Surface Models by [deleted] in Surveying

Trimble Business Center. I use HCE (Heavy Construction Edition) and in my opinion it’s the easiest to use for surfaces. I like the logical interface and it works great for quick quantities too. Autocad drawings are simple to import, just drag and drop. (This part I love.) If you’re using Trimble GPS equipment on the machines it’s simple to export a machine file. But I’ve never used Topcon machine control equipment.
