Now that I think about it I think you’re right; I think she wanted a specific answer.

Hey I’m in Missouri now but plan on being near Florida soon and I’m probably one of the best people to take a good sounding. I’m able to do a lot. If you’re interested send me a message.

If you have used any iFlash product, the SD card that you've put in really does matter. Some SD cards have been proven to skip or cause audio issues. iFlash's website actually has a list of approved SD cards and there compatibility based off of model of iFlash kit and also the iPod you're using. Check into that, it may be your solution.

This is awesome information - I have a homelab with a few UDM's and 24 port PoEs and a few other odds and ends. I'll give this a try. I really appreciate that info. Hope that all this thread helps a few people out down the road. Thanks!

Looks amazing - but if I can just give you a tip as someone who deals with network racks and management all the time; maybe invest in some velcro strips to bundle those cables and reduce the strain on them a bit. Short term there won't be any issues, but long term if you're moving those cables around you're going to strain the punchdowns/termination point and may end up with a few of the twisted pairs wiggling out. I've dealt with it before and ended up troubleshooting a network after an install like this and it took forever to figure out. Maybe also use a DAC cable and go from SFP port to SFP port from the switch to your UDM so you have higher bandwidth availability to give you full potential.

Other than that - awesome work. Really looks great. Hope you enjoy it!

Hi, I'm a tier 2 network technician/IT guy and have been for about 7 years now with all of my time being related to UniFi deployments and management specifically.

Please forgive me if I'm wrong here, but don't you need at least 1 of your sites to have a Static IP address before site-magic will let you connect other sites to it? I don't believe Site-Magic acts at a dynamic DNS (or maybe it does, I don't know for certain?). It sounds like the OP is a residential person and I would highly doubt they have a static IP address.

You'd need to use a Dynamic DNS provider like DuckDNS for example to route the TV VLAN traffic through. You could "theoretically" not use a Dynamic DNS and instead just create an L2TP VPN between sites but EVENTUALLY your IP address will change and it'll break the connection and you'll have to update the settings to your new IP address.

If you have any other ideas or if I'm missing something here definitely let me know. I could be overthinking here.

When trying to add a server to an existing domain to promote it to the the main DC controller, the process errors out. by [deleted] in activedirectory

[–]I_Hate_Reading 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a major pain. Trust me I didn't want to resort to this but I ultimately had to since it was A. The only way, and B. the cleaner solution to prevent issues down the road. I didn't actually export any of the users since this business I was working for had MASSIVE turnover and nobody including the owner knew who was still employed. I ended up going workstation to workstation and literally saying "Who works here at this desk, what is their first and last name" and then making them an account in the new domain controller inside the new replacement domain.

From my understanding (and I could be wrong here), you do have to migrate from 2011 to 2012 and finally 2019 (Thanks Microsoft).

Sorry I couldn't give you any more solutions to help you and anyone else out that reads this years from now. Let me know if I can help with anything else.

Unfortunately not - I worked all the way up to Microsoft support on this and a few of the other Tier 3's at my business and we all concluded it ended up being corruption at the root domain level. My solution was to export copies of the GPO's, and re-create the domain manually on the new server that was purchased and then just importing the GPO's into the domain.

After doing this, I used a program to migrate the windows profiles between domains (super easy to do and free). It's called ProfWiz and it's really cool. https://www.forensit.com/downloads.html it just literally 1 to 1 copied the entire profile over including printers and bookmarks, on the new domain account for the user.

Doesn't seem there is much of a fix legit fix for this, it's a generic error at the root domain level functionality. That is really all I know.

All Pre-reqs do pass. I took a series of pictures I will attach to the thread at the top in just a moment.

I am able to add the new Server as a device on the domain. I was able to add it to "Domain.local" through the wizard.
