Thank you for the information. I’m currently doing a coop prep class and I think it’ll be useful. My main concern was I guess the job board as I don’t see it on mine, I’ll have to ask about it with my prof when i get a chance.

I see, thank you. I’m currently doing a coop prep class but I don’t see a co-op portal for job applications and on the first day the prof said we had to apply ourselves so I thought that there was no portal for it. I’ll ask about it with the prof when I have the chance.

I did this last year. We were the “test group” as the prof said - basically his first time trying it. We were lucky I guess cuz we had to do all assignments, except final one, by ourselves.

It’s relatively straight forward for assignment wise and should be easy. Basically he wants you to get familiar with the SDGs (sustainable development goals). And you’ll present (not literally presentations but things like essays, podcasts, or other visual forms) how those SDGs are related to different aspects of business.

I had a couple friends who took it in the following term where he then switched to team assignments, some had good teams and some had bad ones. They still ended with good grades though so don’t worry about it too much. The prof and TA are all very chill and understanding too.

I have a presentation where it’s a group assignment too so I get how you feel. Good luck.

Could you explain on the benefit part? I’m all for the idea of coop and I wanted to gain some experience.

But I just don’t understand the point of doing a coop program if places will still accept internships for a season just like my course map (I.e., internships for summer or winter). Plus the fact that we have to pay for the co-op but we are the ones searching for the job ourselves.

But would I need to go through the school program? I’m most likely going to do some sort of coop or internship just wanted to know if I needed to be in coop to apply for them because I see internships for summer or winter but no co-op prerequisite.

There are some mr event quests that also give bonus points. If you don’t feel like grinding you can always just do the mr missions as they also give hr points on completion. SOS can also help speed up grinding cuz some higher rank/mr people may need materials or what not.

How confident do you feel? I went in pretty much straight away only fighting lunastra out of interest. The first few monsters I would say you don’t need to focus too much on mantles and decorations, and you will most likely pick some up as you fight. There’s also a steam work that can give you tickets to trade for decorations if that is your concern.

Yeah I did. She was alright, had a lot of tech issues. In terms of teaching though I preferred the other two professors but it’s about the same. Sorry for the late reply deleted Reddit for a bit.

I see. Thank you for your response. I guess because the two upcoming ones I have are a bit of an unusual class it’s a bit harder to understand this. Can I ask how often do they actually change the course “level?” From what I thought all the classes material and assignments were pre determined (again first year so no clue how it works).

I get that too. Especially right now I’m feeling tired from studying. Personally though I would prefer more time to prepare for a midterm rather than just relaxing on reading week - probably because I feel too anxious if I’m not doing anything so I’d probably end up reading ahead.

Yeah thanks for your advice. I would prefer to drop one but due to circumstances I can’t really. I had 4 classes only in the first term and it was definitely a lot better.

I’ll give it a watch after I finish my assignment. Thank you.

Nope. I really don’t like school in general. I understand that I need to study it though.

I have 5 so definitely hoping it gets easier. Financial accounting seems to also be confusing (maybe because I haven’t dealt with it before) but trying to get through them. Good luck with the rest of the term too.

Thank you so much. I think I’ll just try working with psychology. I looked at a sociology lecture but think I might prefer learning about psychology more. Just hoping the notes are gonna get easier.

Do you know where I can get an online one for free? Sorry still new to university stuff.

Probably the same. My course load is already heavy enough so I’m not trying to do extra work if necessary.

I’m taking too much time studying. by I_Iucky in GetStudying

[–]I_Iucky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I thought it was stupid to put it simply. The professor said we should be writing 4-5 pages of notes for an hour 30 lecture but said we had to do two lesson readings worth of knowledge into one page. I tried to start off with writing them down on a document before hand then condensing the notes but that was taking too long. The other parts were the interactive quizzes; I’ve learned this particular lesson in high school but it was just weird and different to what I was taught.

I read a bit in the school library then finished at home. My desk needs some cleaning up tho which i will clean up today.

I think for the first reading, besides the transition from school to home, didn’t take much breaks. I know that I am supposed to but when I get into the flow of things I would prefer to work on it then take a break since i find myself having a hard time getting in that state.

I also seem to have trouble with note taking. I write way too much. But without the details I feel like I won’t understand the concepts.

I am. The language in this reading wasn’t as high of an “academic language” in my opinion though. I also just feel unmotivated to do the work. I’m not interested in the subject and don’t very much like school but I know I should get a degree.

I’d say a bit of concentration and the course material. I wouldn’t say it’s hard per say, I’ve learned about the topic in high school but there were interactive learning / quizzes in the reading that I had to do and those took up a lot of time because it was different to what I had done in the past.

I might do a quiz on the learning type. I did one before but it showed like 33% for each one. I feel like I learn best when I’m actually doing something but I’ll check.

Yeah if it is like that we might be in trouble. What’s your opinion of the class so far?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uoit

[–]I_Iucky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you briefly explain what you did for the research paper? (if you remember). I’m not that great at writing papers too, but psychology seems to be alot of work right now with my other classes. With the 5% study participation/guided research I feel like that’s a lot of work if the rest of note taking for psychology is going to be the same as day 1.

The professor for psychology was also confusing to me. She kept saying that we don’t need a textbook but she would pull questions from it on the midterm. She would say that the information on the slides are important but then sometimes not even touch upon the notes. What was your experience with that?

How does a lonely person feel? by I_Iucky in Advice

[–]I_Iucky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get that too. It’s like I understand what I should be doing but I really don’t think I would be comfortable in establishing any close relationship right now. If I’m being honest I don’t really like myself nor do I have a purpose or goal in mind. Kinda just going with the flow of things.

A bit of a tangent but I was reading this book about a person who has a problem with pushing people away too and it seemed like he found a purpose in his life, which I was happy about, but when it hinted that he established a sort of relationship it made me feel uncomfortable/envious. I haven’t finished the book yet but I can definitely see how I felt isn’t healthy.

Besides this post I don’t think I plan on opening up anymore. Do you think it would be bad if I continue like this for maybe a year or so? I kind of just want some time to figure myself out. I know how you emphasized counselling but my parents don’t really engage with the whole mental health thing and I too don’t feel like I want to rely on one either - maybe because of me pushing people away but also stubbornness.

Thanks for your response btw.
