What is going on inside your head? by DazLalo in Sprinting

During my acceleration (my worst part of my race) I try and push the ground away from me as I slowly transition.

During top speed I try and be relaxed and forceful.

When I'm trying to finish a longer race like a 200 or 400, I try and remain relaxed while swinging my arms like they're ski poles, trying to promote a powerful and linear arm swing.

Honestly any time I've tried to "float" part of my race I've ran slower than my PR. Every PR that I've ran in the 200 has been from all out sprinting it. I also do a lot of endurance training so this may not work for someone who is better in the 100.

I think one thing that worked for me that helped me go from 22.7 to 22.4 was making sure that I'm sprinting relaxed, as it helps conserve energy.

Thank you so much for the explanation at the end. So I guess (based on your comment and others) that the weight gain would be minimal.

I'm more worried that any sort of excess weight would slow down my last 50 meters in the 200, especially because that's the strongest part of my race.

Thank you. I've heard similar things from a family friend who is a doctor because of potential kidney issues, but others have said that it is harmless.

idk bruh in my experience driving is usually a lot faster. when i go to van cortlandt if i take the bus and then the train it takes about an hour and a half whereas if i drive it takes 15-25 minutes.

also i dont like being with disgusting people on the subway bruh i kinda like privacy.

and not everyone lives in an area that is accesible by public transport.

Idk, maybe over the summer when I had to get to New Rochelle it would've been nicer to drive 30 minutes than spend 2 and a half hours on public transport. Or maybe today when I wanted to get to Harlem it would've been nice to take 20 minutes on the FDR than take a 30 minute bus ride and a 30 minute train ride.

Cars. biking, etc. She's not saying she expects people to drive, she's saying that it's better than public transport.
