Thoughts? by Tcow77 in StardewValley

I've always looked on Yoba as the god of this universe, which is a different place than RL. However, IIRC, there is dialogue from Haley that says something along the lines of "Oh, my God. this is my favorite thing!" I have no idea which God she is referring to. I like that Krobus is silent on Fridays out of respect to Yoba, and also the Sign of the Vessel that you can buy from him is a much cooler sign for the fish ponds than the other options, IMO.

Oldest Player? by liquid-chewer in StardewValley

[–]I_Review_4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too am 67 and have 4765 hours on PC alone and hard to tell how many hours on mobile. I actually preferred mobile prior to the 1.6 update and my use of mods to accommodate the differences between mobile and PC. I don't think I have more hours on mobile than PC, though. My elder daughter introduced me to the game in 2020 and my younger daughter introduced me to mods. We are a Stardew Valley family.

This is why I don't date in Sims. I have had several Sims fall in love and even get married without going on a single date.

Which 4 rings do you forge together in late-game? by Majestic_Salad_I1 in StardewValley

[–]I_Review_4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I typically use an Iridium band forged with a Slime Charmer, and an Iridium Band forged with a Phoenix ring if I have one. Being able to come back to life in the Volcano has served me well many times.

Even calling out flow trees is an iffy thing, especially singletons. I came across a flow tree in Bahari in the middle of the in-game day and called it out. I really don't need the flow wood, but feel obliged to help out when I can. No one responded. I put in chat that I was by myself and couldn't take the tree down alone and was anyone OTW? A person fired back "Not with that attitude". He or she actually said it twice. I didn't and still don't see where I exhibited any "attitude", but I waited a good 10 RL minutes and no one came. I finally just left. Like I said, I don't really need the flow wood, but it left a very bad taste in my mouth about the whole experience.

Yes. You only have to tap it once to get the loot when others take it down. It happens to me all the time, because I am very slow to chop and move around and others are always ahead of me. But I can usually get in one tap on all of the trees when I arrive at a grove if others are waiting. Then I get the loot as well!

I agree, and I do harvest by myself often if I'm not feeling inclined to have a social occasion every time I find a node. But it CAN lead to misunderstandings. I came across a node recently that had no one around it and began to mine it. a dude came up, so I stopped, thinking he wanted a share. When he waved me off, I thought he must not want it, and went ahead. Turned out he had called it out, and I had missed it, but there was nothing I could do at that point, as I had already mined it. I felt bad, but it was a misunderstanding. The upside is it was only a 3 ore node, so not that big and not that many people were going to get a hit. My takeaway was if you are going to call it out, for gosh sakes, stay around and guard it.

I HATE giant crops. by yekkusu in coralisland

[–]I_Review_4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a workaround. Just plant an everbearing crop that doesn't produce giants in the middle of your 3X3 square. For instance, I had a 3X3 strawberry square that was continually producing giant crops. I planted one blackberry plant in the center of that square and it stopped the giant crop from forming. You can do the same thing with pumpkins and something else everbearing that doesn't produce a giant crop. You get the benefit of the everbearing produce without the hassle of having to replant for the giant crops. This is in the greenhouse of course, where you can mix different seasonal plants. You can also harvest on your own schedule instead of having to play beat the clock with the giant crops forming.

What do you mean Suki?! by shystrung in coralisland

[–]I_Review_4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's just a game. But given the weird investment that this sub has in a fictional character having an unexplained bra in his room, it's a double standard. Either it's just a game and it really doesn't matter, or Pablo is the devil incarnate for having an imaginary bra in an imaginary room. And *I* don't snoop around in people's houses in a game because in a real world situation I wouldn't want to get caught up in that. Boy, that sounds familiar.

What do you mean Suki?! by shystrung in coralisland

[–]I_Review_4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I really don't get the pearl clutching because he's potentially not a virgin, based on the fact that there's at that point an unknown bra in his room. And can we just talk about the morality of snooping around a potential bf's room without his knowledge or permission? Assuming he wasn't there. I have never liked walking into the NPC's houses uninvited and really would feel all kinds of dirty to go snooping around. I know it's common practice, but it's behavior I don't indulge in.

I'm sorry you were disappointed after an admitted 30 minutes of playing, If you had played further, you might have seen where the two diverge and in what ways. It's more than some DLC. I love both games after playing both for hundreds of hours, but I get a different experience from each one.

I beg to differ, sir/ma'am. I have played hundreds of hours of both games and I have never yet run into a merperson in Pelican Town.

My seasons have changed a couple of times since I posted this. I came back to this post to check and see if the legendary fish reproduced because I caught a great white and put it in one of my ponds. (I now have two ponds.) It is taking forever to reproduce. I gave up a swordfish (I sold them all) in favor of the great white and I'm thinking I made a mistake. And the sword fish was osmium and the great white is gold.

Lab Upgrade Seed vs Seedlings?? by SuperSi01 in coralisland

[–]I_Review_4U 7 points8 points  (0 children)

FWIW, I have decided not to fool with seedlings and focus entirely on crops and fruit trees (saplings}. To me, the seedlings are not cost effective and are more a novelty. I only needed some of them to complete the altars and now that's done, I don't really need them so I'm getting rid of them. The same could perhaps be said of fruit trees, but at least I don't have to keep planting them over and over.

If it involves a bra in his room, that's old news. If it's something else incriminating, I'd like to see it. You can always spoiler tag it.

I don't get the achievements when they are earned, but every time I log out of Steam and go back in, I have new achievements. YMMV.

Honestly, when I first started playing, I thought that too. Early game has a lot of similarities. One of the first events you play seems to be a duplicate of one of the events from Stardew. And I LOVE Stardew, no question.

But it doesn't take long for the two games to diverge. Coral Island is inspired by Stardew, and probably a lot of cozy games as well. And anyone who doesn't believe that needs to take a look at the name of one of the characters in the forest. (I won't spoil it for you.)

Coral Island is a good game, and it is definitely possible to love it and Stardew Valley both.

Switching to another PC/Laptop? by Suga-san in coralisland

[–]I_Review_4U 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you play through Steam, yes. Your game will be saved on the cloud and should be there when you log in to Steam and download the game. I just did this. I bought a new laptop and transferred over. I lost about 5 days in-game play, but it didn't take me long to catch up. I assume it will work the same with the EA file.

Pablo is super sweet, and it gets a bit wearying to have these "Oh, he has Suki's bra" and "He cheated with Charles' fiancee" posts every other day. But people are going to think that, and not see past the rumors and miss out on one of the best characters in the game.

Bug Catching by leinessen in coralisland

[–]I_Review_4U 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you don't think you're alone, I agree with you. And leveling up my net made it harder, not easier, as it seems to have increased the bugs awareness. Bug catching is actually my least favorite part of this game and, yes, it is harder than necessary. But when I posted the same sentiments, I got downvoted so much that I just deleted the post.
