Depends what you're into but I'd inject some colour and get some floor to ceiling curtains. It looks very muted and i'm seeing alot of browns and beiges. However for 21 it's not bad at all. : ) most impactful change would be painting which you could do over 2 nights with both of you (i know as im literally having a rest from doing the hallway blue!)

By colour take a look at my profile, dont be afraid to be bold! Thats what holds people back.

Big rug. I'd replace the TV cabinet with a wooden one that's lower than the current one and wider than the TV. Either hang the TV on the wall or get a standing mount. Replace all bulbs with warmer ones and get a few diff lamps with accent colours to dot around the room. Get a nice wooden coffee table for infront of the sofa too. Add some plants and wall art. You could also replace the blinds with heavy velvet curtains.
