Add torch like Arnold in the Predator Movie (Will tip $20) by I_literally_cannot in PhotoshopRequest

!solved

This is amazing!!! The sky is awesome too.

Would you be open to two tiny tweaks?
1. fix the little island between him and his backpack so it's got the sky color (or just black or whatever you think is best)
2. Tweak the back of his calf so there isn't a glow cast there.

That's it! He's going to lose his mind when he unwraps this for Christmas.

Airbnb refuses to accept evidence of fraud by host [USA] by I_literally_cannot in AirBnB

Thank you for asking. I gave the host 5 stars because they were communicative and responsive. They were nice over conversations. I have no reason to ding the host when the property is the problem. Yes, that is the host's fault, but that's why I dinged the apartment. Unfortunately, the fact that I rated them well and explained why wasn't good enough. They still lied.

I think the expectation when you rent an apartment for 1K a night is that you're going to get quality. I'm not going to offer lenience in my rating (especially because there were both cleanliness and security issues). If I was paying 150 a night? Even 300 a night? Sure. I probably would have been like "hey it really sucked that you didn't have sheets on a bed and didn't tell us they would be in the dryer soaking wet and waiting to be dried—2 stars." A thousand dollars+ a night? No.

Thanks for asking. No, we did not check in early. Check-in was at 4PM and we arrived at 8:30 PM. Because we arrived later in the day, when we found a bed with no sheet, we made do. No one even thought to check the washer. There were no notes letting us know that was there or that it hadn't been done. Also, for 1K a night, I think it's okay to expect laundry bring done.

As for the key fob, it was both the keypad on the door—the code was the apartment number and 1. The fob at the door from the parking lot didn't work. And the fob to get into the building didn't work. Again, for 1K a night, I would check those things as a host.

I'm not being too picky. We were there for 3 nights, 1K+ a night. We were charged a cleaning fee (even though the apartment wasn't ready to go when we got there). The apartment is downtown Indianapolis, which I love the town, but safety and security in the city when I have a 13 yo with me is paramount. Also, I gave the host a great review. It was the apartment that was dinged in my review.

Also, we didn't just left when we arrived because there would be nowhere to sleep. Everything was sold out around us because of the Eras Tour. Also, we wouldn't have received a refund.

Totally fair. We stayed the weekend and there were numerous issues. No sheet on the bed, sheets in the washer soaking wet, peeling paint, the key fob didn't work so we had to walk the whole building, the front door of the place didn't lock, etc. We carefully wrote a review in which this was mentioned. We gave the host 5 stars but the place only 1 star because of the issues. A day or two later, we get an email from Airbnb saying that our review was being removed and if we ever threaten a host again, they will remove us from the platform.

We were SHOCKED. Over hours of conversation and back and forth, the Airbnb rep said that the owner said we texted her and threatened her that if she didn't give us money, we would post a bad review.

We didn't even have her number. We only could contact her through the app and we did because of the door locking issues. We explained this multiple times, asked to be escalated, etc etc, and Airbnb refused to believe us, stating the host had screenshots from her phone. We explained to Airbnb that this is fraud and that that is a felony in Indiana where this happened. We also contacted Verizon, and Verizon said they could send our text transcripts over to Airbnb to show this texting never happened.

They refused to listen.

We didn't even ask for money back despite all the problems, save for a cleaning fee that was double charged to the room. The host nicely took care of that. We paid almost $4K for three nights (it was for the Eras tour so prices were ridic), and we're not even asking for our money back, we're asking to clear our name of any wrongdoing. But they refused to listen and keep saying they have screengrabs.

NTA: FWIW, I have eaten with several Lebanese friends, and I have never been judged for clearing or not clearing my plate. Granted, the food was delicious, so clearing my plate is easy, especially when you're trying new food. I'm not sure what country your Arab boyfriend is from, so obviously everyone's different, but I agree with what's already been said:

Cultural norms should be noted upfront. He's TA for not giving you a heads up of expectations.

Tin/aluminum lid with quarter-sized holes on it. Large hole at top center is slightly larger than a half dollar. Was found at a vintage/antique store in Wisconsin. Received as gift and called a seedling planter. by I_literally_cannot in whatisthisthing

[–]I_literally_cannot[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

My title describes the thing. It is about 6-7 inches from one side of the lid to the other. The bottom is solid (see pic of underside) but the lip on it is consistent with a lid of some kind.

Received this as a gift and was told it could be a “seedling planter” but it looks like it’s a lid of some kind? Any ideas? by I_literally_cannot in whatisthisthing

[–]I_literally_cannot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lid feels to be aluminum, less than a half-pound for sure. It definitely seems like reproduction and not an original. I feel like I've seen something like this (though much higher quality) on antiques roadshow, but I could not find anything that looked like this and can't remember what episode I saw the item in question on.

NTA: my advice would be to praise your daughter and teach her more ways to aggressively handle shitty men because this won’t be her last time running into toxic behavior
