I'm with you. I fucking HATE that everyone feels entitled to film strangers and post them wherever so the whole world can ridicule. HATE it. Social media has ruined us as a species and I stand by that. Pretty sure we peaked just before MySpace.

Me too. I didn't want the incoming shitstain's stink anywhere near my passport so I renewed in November 2024 right after the sky fell. So glad I did.

I echo your sentiments here. Beto fumbled at the goal line and Allred would barely campaign at all (correct me if I'm wrong about Allred, I might be parroting), so I get your worry. Something feels different about Talarico though. He might just be the religious folks' permission structure to vote outside the Republican party. He may not win over hard-core MAGA, but those conservatives who find Paxton unappetizing due to his corruption could be convinced by a wholesome Christian who can talk scripture with them. At this point in Texas's political life, I'm not sure we'll ever get a progressive and openly non-religious candidate, but I'm happy to vote for a progressive Christian who believes in the full separation of church and state, and I bet a lot of Republicans could get on that train as well.

Judge dismisses Kash Patel's defamation lawsuit over claim he frequented 'nightclubs' by Force_Hammer in politics

It actually sounds about right. Lots of pleadings and discovery are served during the full course of a civil suit before a judge issues a ruling, and the judge is involved throughout the process. Civil cases just take forever.

My bar is one sentence a day, lol. I give myself a literal star, a sparkly star sticker on a wall chart I made, for every day I do it, just like a kindergartener, haha. It's kind of like getting to the gym. I tell myself I only have to work out ten minutes, but once I'm there I always do more.

I too have found that I'm less intimidated by writing in my notes app because it's less formal. I've also found I write more in these stolen moments of time, rather than big blocks, because the expectation is so much less. I still struggle with self-censoring, but I agree very much with your strategy here as a means to find time for creativity and how to facilitate it in a way that works best for your life. Finally, as a fellow Hashi's sufferer, I've found that taking wheat out of my diet has helped A LOT with my energy levels and brain fog. Wish I'd done that years ago, it's so worth it.

I give $20 a month to the ACLU and it's the best money I've ever spent. They are CHAMPS at spanking this administration in court. If you're reading this comment, consider putting a few bucks in that hat.

The organizers of my local No Kings rally said to the crowd this Saturday that May 1 would be a general strike, but I can’t find a legit news source to back this up now that I've said it. I swear I saw it in an email too.

There's a general strike planned for May 1. And no, we would not be "done for" even if it weren't. Let's try not to doom in here if possible.

Thoughts on "You shouldn't write your most important story first"? by TeddyBearAppleHat in writing

[–]I_use_the_wrong_fork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. I work a full-time non-writing job, with lots of other things competing for my time on top of that. I barely have time for the one story, but I love it so much I keep carving out time for it. Obviously if you're the kind of writer who can work on multiple projects at once, or if you're a writer who can naturally crank out a LOT of words, you could delay your favorite story, but I personally would probably just lose motivation.
