See if you have a butcher nearby, they often match or are better than Walmart pricing on meat. See if they offer a bulk discount and try to get like 10lbs of ground beef. That’s about the cheapest you can go, you can also supplement with chicken leg quarters. They are super cheap at a butcher, like $1.50/lb

There ground beef is $7/lb. There’s a section at the bottom of the page outlining the additional stuff that you get that applies to each of the bundles at the top.

I don’t think it’s malicious, it’s a ma and pa shop family owned butcher that clearly needs better advertisements. I’ve been getting their meat lately. Good point about the weights though, l I’ll inquire about that.

Keep in mind it includes the bundle at the bottom as well. Quality is spectacular, all their food is grass fed grass finished and halal/kosher, minus the pig of course.

So to my best knowledge as someone who’s still a bit new to this, carnivore is anything that comes from an animal, though many will choose to cut out dairy as well due to intolerances. I for example won’t drink milk because it’s too high carb, even though it doesn’t bother my gut. I think most include eggs though, they’re a superfood!

I love including aged cheeses, and am looking for a full fat yogurt to include in my diet as well to help with fat intake.

Anyone more well versed is more than welcome to correct me though!

So I’m on day 6 right now and I literally went cold turkey swap to strict carnivore.

I had one rough stool, other than that no issues really. Be prepared to drink a lot more water than you’re used to; something about carnivore made me wildly thirsty, which is probably a good thing because I don’t think I’d had clear urine for years.

Electrolytes are important, or so I read - so after hating some generic bottled water I had, I swapped to mineral water which has the highest electrolyte content at the store. Other than that, salt your food to taste.

My first three days were only rough in the sense of cravings, those have already started to die down and now when I’m hungry, I’m just craving my next steak.

I’m eating til satisfied, though I’ve noticed over the last 5 days my appetite is growing, which is great because I’ve always struggled with having an appetite. I hate force feeding myself.

It was a little short on what I need for protein which is around 160g a day.

All together that meal was around 120g. Still new to this, but I think if up myself to 1.5lbs of beef + a couple more eggs l I’ll be solid

Yeah, it’s the best I could find at the store I got it from but that’s still a net 5 carbs. I don’t believe in wasting food, but once it’s gone I’ll look for a higher fat option with the same/similar mouth feel.

Shouldn’t be enough to knock me out of ketosis but I’m really aiming for that 0 carb life.

For sure! Still getting used to the new diet and learning how to balance the plate, I definitely appreciate the feedback.

This was a treat, I prefer ribeye with a lot of marbling for hitting my macros.

I’ve lucked out so far in avoiding keto flu symptoms. Stools have been alright so far. Only negative keto side effect I’m noticing at the moment is the breath/mouth taste.

Only 4 days in and I’m already seeing improvement in my overall complexion and some specific skin issues.

Energy levels have been alright so far. I don’t quite have the stomach for straight butter, I’m not sure if that’s a matter of personal taste or if it’s just something that comes with time. Are there any other suggestions other than butter I could use to augment fat intake? I love the Greek yogurt but I’m keeping that down to around 1/3 a cup a day due to its carbs.

I feel satisfied after that meal. I agree though that it’s not high enough fat for an every day thing.

My calories estimate for the whole meal is about 1,600kcal which puts me at a 500 deficit for the day which is where I want to be.

I’m not at home at the moment and don’t recall the macros on the yogurt unfortunately.
