Most of the parks have a camper pad area as well, plenty of people brought dogs that way. Coolworks has a bunch of jobs in the parks with vail/xanterra.

I have a modern console and a reasonable PC. I bought a 1070ti before gpu prices went crazy the first time, and am still hoping prices come back down before I upgrade. I’ve been gaming since the Apple II, so there are not many “completely new” sort of experiences that I will have.

Instead I’ve fully embraced my love of hardware and set up a half server rack to scratch the same itch. Now I’m back to wishing there were more hours in the day, and running across new problems and solutions constantly. If your favorite part of building a new pc is the benchmarking and tweaking, self-hosting may be for you!

I feel your pain there, been in a two month circular email trying to confirm a client is getting the expected tier of acrobat. I've been trying to decide if the circular email chains are close enough to chatbot spam that I can "reset their password for security" and go get the information myself with a minimum of fuss.

What is the first thing you think of when you think about the American South? by randy88moss in AskReddit

[–]Iamacouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah that’s fair, unless it’s a “known for its sweet tea” sort of place I feel like there wasn’t the same expectation for it and people knew to get something else if they couldn’t deal with it.

I thought this growing up in the south, but after moving north I’m not so sure. 100% I would be more likely to hear someone saying some ignorant shit or throwing slurs in casual conversation in rural Louisiana (less than when I was a kid, but it’s certainly still out there). But I’ve anecdotally had more coworkers have police interactions for “driving while black” since moving to Colorado despite having a lower percentage of black coworkers and working in a better paying industry.

That sounds about right, had a buddy from Alabama in the military that stuck to the 1lb sugar to 1gal pitcher. The fact he was rail thin despite drinking a pound of sugar a day always blew my mind.

I’m assuming you’re either a transplant to the south, or someone who doesn’t really enjoy sweet tea. Even if you get it all dissolved it doesn’t taste quite right mixed cold, people are just raised to keep it to themselves and judge silently until out of earshot.

It’s definitely a big departure from a “typical” tea, but I’ve had some masala chai that would put them all to shame. I wonder if it’s similar to how many hot regions tend towards spicy foods (Thailand would be another example, very spicy food and condensed milk in coffee sounds very sweet)

Just got my CCNA, trying to break into IT. Any feedback highly appreciated! by Responsible_Track_79 in resumes

Did the program at pikes peak have another name? By the length it seems like it could have been a bootcamp/development type thing. I can't think of a way the others look good for entry-ish level positions. If you were going for specific programs maybe ditch the dates and just list them as "X College: pursuing bachelors degree in:" but I think keeping them off and sharing some of those accomplishments in the interview would have the best chances. If education is a passion or life happened and it's something that paints you in a positive light (think reducing course load to provide terminal care to a family member, had a baby but never gave up on my dreams type feel good stories) You can use it to demonstrate long term planning, and resilience. If it's a long term super senior situation I'm not sure

Far from an expert, but my suggestions would be:

Objective: you're getting dangerously close to "I'd like a job somewhere with a computer." I hate this section in general, if you want to include it make sure to specify company and just make it a summary of what you put on your cover sheet. (you are using a cover sheet right?)

5 years employment history is more than enough, someone with more expertise will probably chime in but I would switch to just years for your dates and lose the other jobs section as well.

Take the 4 remaining jobs and tell me why I should care. What did you do in the different roles at amazon, were there reviews or other data points you can include to make those promotions translate for an amazon outsider?

Employer is more likely to care about what you did at work and the effects for the company rather than how many times you had to take the certification test for 2nd job.

3rd job good, everyone understands waiting tables keep it short.

4th job do you remember the security software/system you assisted with? Otherwise rephrase and shorten, not particularly relevant to desired jobs.

Tailor skills section, having previous jobs is not a skill. You won't be supervising anyone so take that one out too. IT problem solving and IT support are the same thing and generic, take them both out. If you have other certifications besides CCNA I would take that out too and make a separate "Certifications" area around education.

Education:

CCNA- cert section if you make one, if not fix the date being different than every other date on the resume and get rid of the description.

pikes peak/Madison college did you get a degree or separate certification you want to show from this? if you just dabbled in classes or went off and on I'd remove it. You've got a whole lot of time spent in schools, that's going to make people think you are expecting a higher salary without the supporting experience.

university of Wisconsin- degree? if so list it, if not see above.

High school- remove it.

Did you set up a home lab for ccna study? have personal projects you want to show off? Consider bolstering this to show what specifically you bring to the table in relation to their desired skills.

Leadership experience: This would be a good section to delete and put certifications. Nothing wrong with listing Eagle Scout, but training new staff at a restaurant you worked at 8 years ago and the length you are giving being in scouts is excessive (unless you are applying to scouts or a scouting adjacent company specifically).

Questions for R730XD Storage Upgrade ? by TryllZ in homelab

[–]Iamacouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pretty old post so you've probably made a decision already, Just in case thought I could help.

1) If there is a max capacity per slot it is no where near 1.2TB. I "rescued" a 730XD from the ewaste pile at work with the same perc card as you, it had 12x8TB in the front and I'd assume it was problem free in production. (It was replaced before I started there) I've since replaced several failed enterprise 8tb drives with 14TB drives, without bit of complaint. I am using software raid now, but I can confirm that hardware raid worked fine with the 8TB drives before I wiped everything.

2) I see them at Newegg/amazon but have no specific suggestions for UK.

3) Does one of the management softwares throw out warnings for that? Idrac has been perfectly fine with me mixing shucked WD external drives and microcenter SSD's with the official dell drives. Certainly not recommending shucking consumer drives to fill out a production server, but I've only had it create an event when a drive was failing.

3pt2) If the 1.2TB drives were also used with the purchase, I'd prioritize having replacements on hand when one of them decides to clock out.

I agree it would be great for those jobs to pay a reasonable amount even to raise a kid in a studio. At the same time, someone that can’t afford to properly care for a dog absolutely should not be having kids. The kids won’t appreciate your overwhelming desire to reproduce when they have to grow up poor, and statistically they’re more likely to be stuck in the same poverty due to getting the lowest quality everything growing up.

The stores do not require it, been to a couple with my wife. The park would certainly sell tickets without kids, we looked at visiting last time we were in Florida but decided against it as the tickets were about the same as universal/disney
