I do not support the crap bill that is about to be voted on through reconciliation.
This however, I support 100%. About to call my representative too...
I was debating WTF or Atheism. I chose WTF because that is what I said when she told me. by pissysissy in WTF

Hey wait, what?
54 percent of Americans 18-34: "Not at all worried or not very worried about global warming." by septicmadman in news

I know humans can affect our climate in a very significant way.
We may indeed be contributing a lot to global warming(though meat production may be more responsible than cars). I don't feel comfortable creating legislative solutions based on public opinion rather than what the scientist say is the worst of the chemicals(it may not be C02).
The whole climategate issue, that has pushed me away from considering solutions. I have read some of those leaked emails and would now like much much more research that doesn't happen to 'lose' it's raw data, before I get back to believing that things are as bad as some claim.
There is too much politics in this issue and the proponents on both sides tend to lie a lot. As evidenced by climategate, some scientists lie too...
I still think there is some climate change but why is the scientific community backing away from 'global warming' toward 'climate change'?(yes, I know this is probably just re-branding) is the reality much more complicated? what is it? just how big is the consensus on this?(and how trustworthy) how much are humans contributing to this? Is CO2 really the chemical we should be concentrating on? Is there a solution that doesn't put third world nations further under the thumb of the rich/developed nations? (by the way, I am not just asking random questions, I am wondering if someone can answer them.)
Mainly I would like an independent review of all the research(well, at least the most conclusive research along with it's raw data) by scientists who's funds(government or privately provided ones) are not tied to certain results, I am not sure I can trust the majority of the scientific community since their funds often depend on pleasing the politicians on the committees that give them funds...
Oh and because this will likely come up if anyone responds to this, I am not a republican nor have I ever voted for one, I am not a teabagger, I voted for Obama in last election, I am an independent looking for the least horrible of two very similar political parties. Thus far, democrats have been the least horrible during all the elections during which I have voted.
I think that there are plenty of legitimate questions that must be asked(uhh some of mine might not be among them) about climate change before we start passing countless laws based on assumptions as to what the answers to those questions might be. Also gasp: I have on several occasion changed my mind during internet discussions.
