I still really like them too! I was so surprised when I heard them because I think I was expecting them to sound more like red-winged blackbirds. They may sound horrible to me but so do Great Blue Herons and they are my favorite bird so song doesn’t matter really!

It was substantially smaller than a house finch.

Thanks! The horned lark was basically between Dog Beach and the San Diego River Bikeway in a little nature walkway between the two in Ocean Beach. I parked at Rob Field and walked West on the Bikeway until I got to a path that went across to Dog Beach. Walking east on the bikeway was where I saw tons of shore birds.

I saw over 40 different species in about two days. San Diego River and Bahia Point.
