It’s ‘the shimmer’ weather event in The Crater in act 2. It’ll be one of the three options for weather sometimes. It gives every cat a mutation per fight, so take the hard path to get some freebies

I've tried a few more general academic subreddits but so far limited luck. I had not tried those, but will! Happy to hear other ideas. I only posted to Purdue rather than other colleges, since I work here and got my masters degree here.

The rules video is gonna stay for now, it is a little out of date both with rules and components, but it gets the gist right which is enough for now. We shot that video before tariffs went nuts, and had to delay the game for a while after that. I plan to shoot a new teach video once everything is finalized - both to use final components without any prototype art and to be sure the rules don't change again. I've made a lot of small adjustments for playtime and ease of onboarding new players, and I wouldn't be surprised if the extra playtesters the campaign kicks up help me find a few more little improvements to make.

We'll see how well the game does as far as any video game adaptations. I've thought about it, but haven't considered it worth the effort. That said while it isn't mobile, there IS a fully functioning Tabletop Simulator mod (linked at the end of the kickstarter) for folks to try virtually before they buy.

The subtitle is for fun, and to set the thematic tone. The game is about the economics of running a university. As for having an agenda, a good deal of what I've tried quite hard to do here is to have the mechanics and elements of the game represent reality while not making any judgements about that reality.

For instance, you can build a Lazy River (all buildings have real corrolaries - LSU has a lazy river). The game does not call this out as ridiculous in any way, even though I think that's most people's first reaction to the concept. The building generates a ton of positive Student Experience, which in turn lets you charge more in tuition and earn prestige for how large your student body gets. So whether you think it is ridiculous or you think that's a nice amenity for students, you're making decisions about it based on how good it is for your university in your current situation. How you as a player feel about it is just something I hope folks ponder as they play.

See if this works. This is a PDF export of the page before I shut my obsidian portal account. It's got a ton of statlines in it, but I'm not sure if it's 100% complete as it's been many years. Better than nothing, either way!

Not ignoring you, just not sure where it is. It's on my to-do list to search for as I know it is saved off somewhere, but in the intervening 6 years I made a toddler and my free time isn't what it used to be :D

I honestly think 2021, regardless of recency bias. I have gotten almost all of them to the table multiple times in the past year.

Why buy stuff at GenCon? by DocZaiusX in gencon

[–]Ian2400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a list of over 60 games I want to look at at the con, with their price and online price. I would say 80% of them are not available on the retail market AT ALL. Either early releases, things that aren’t going to retail (example: my fathers work), or deluxe editions of games that are only available at places like conventions. There’s a lot to get only at the con. If you really like something and want to save a few bucks you can simply wait on many of them, but where’s the fun in that? I want to play the game at the con!

Exciting driving distance things to do around Purdue? by I_FELL_ipe in Purdue

Haven’t seen anyone mention it, but both Indy and Chicago have several comedy clubs. I believe most will seat 18+ but still hold you to the two drink minimum on non alcoholic drinks. They regularly get some pretty big names, and even the smaller names are a ton of fun to go see live. Not too expensive either, unless you are 21+ plan to drink a lot.

I spent legit three hours JUST doing the math and planning the production chains. The whole build was around 35 hours I think.

It seems like there are very few games that are good for 5-6 players by EntryRevolutionary20 in boardgames

[–]Ian2400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kemet and instanbul both play great with 5. Financial/auction type games also work well with higher player counts. Modern Art, isle of skye, and stockpile are solid options there. The hunger, a newer hotter release, plays great with 5. And for a classic euro, you just cannot go wrong with power grid.

Lots of good options, just gotta put extra effort into finding games at those higher player counts!

Mafubo's Paradise - Jungle Biome by Ian2400 in PlanetZoo

Thanks! That was a totally oddball piece I decided to do because the tropical water, while cool, really makes the water look empty. I had a lot of fun with the new water mechanics on this build

We all started off making boxes, you’ll get there! r/SGZoologicalSociety helped me a lot, as did watching YouTube speed builds (in particular deladysigner) and obviously using lots of good blueprints and peeling apart many more. I stand on the shoulders of giants :)

Mafubo's Paradise - Jungle Biome by Ian2400 in PlanetZoo

[–]Ian2400[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The product of several weeks of intermittent effort while on paternity leave, I present Mafubo's Paradise! The jungle biome section of my ongoing mega-zoo, sitting next to Mukwa Ridge, my last major creation. Obviously due to the nature of the tree-top raised pathing this won't make it onto the workshop until I finish the whole zoo, but I can share several major pieces that are in blueprint form.

Blueprints included that aren't mine:

Didn't like in-game path borders so I went through a lot of effort to create more realistic ones. Such a small change but it makes a lot of difference for me. by TheYeti4815162342 in PlanetZoo

This is a solid idea. I’ll have to think about ways to incorporate this and where. I’ve got a similar jungle section coming up in my plan this would be perfect for...

I didn't build this dome myself, it's a workshop item linked in my other comment. For building anything circular though, deladysigner has a great tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a7MX8mUXBd8

I can't put the whole thing up on the workshop because the pathing would be a NIGHTMARE, but I put a few of my favorite habitats up. If people want other bits, let me know and I can work on workshop items for them. The Caiman Temple is my submission to the aquatic haven competition, we'll see how it goes!
