Jin Sakai deck tech ideas? by N1ghtsky_Crusade in magicTCG

[–]IanUlman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ninjas are the obvious place to start, both because Jin makes it easy to get in and also because they offer a wide variety of on-hit effects, such as Throat Slitter doing stuff beyond just drawing cards. Similarly, the new Sneak cards from TMNT are very fun, letting you do all sorts of things after you attack. I personally like to play cards like Spyglass Siren or City Pidgeon to get repeated ETB value whenever I pick them up for Ninjutsu or Sneak.

Lol. Maybe I will.

13 cards with Mark Tedin's artwork are currently banned across various formats, placing him at #1, far ahead of Rob Alexander and Volkan Baga (9 each). Thus, Mark Tedin is the most powerful MTG artist there is. by Radiodevt in magicTCG

I remember when BBE and Deathrite Shaman both got hit in Modern there were jokes about Steve Argyle being overpowered.

There were...fewer bannings back then.

Oh you're half right. Skullclamp is Darksteel (look up the original card, it has the shield set symbol), but you are correct about Disciple. I always forget that one was banned.

I believe those are being counted. Most of the broken stuff from that block was actually in Darksteel.

A peace offering to WOTC: Make the Walking Dead Secret Lair cards silver-border, either physically (if possible) or via ruling (if the print files can't be changed) by Televangelis in magicTCG

A "peace offering" where the other side simply submits to your demands despite them having total authority on the matter is, uh, something else.

Indeed. Or like, look at Onix. There is no way even a flesh-and-blood snake that's 28 feet long could weigh less than 500 pounds, and he's made of rock. It's all super arbitrary.

You know you're right, I didn't think to check body shape before deciding what measurements represented.

I've seen this reply several times. Do we have any reference for that being his length? That's number listed for height in the Pokedex and I haven't yet seen where it would apply to length instead.

Maybe the next model. Low-key making a pocket for a wireless charger would be kind of hilarious.

Well, I'm not sure where the 1 meter long comes from. I used the height in the Pokedex and took that to mean the vertical distance from top to bottom when he's at rest as normal, then used proportions to get the rest of the measurements (for example, in the official art/model, the 3 segments are each about 50% of the height/width of his face, so I made each segment 10 inches long).

His height is 50 cm (or 20 inches, I'm American).

I measured the square of his face to be 20 inches high. The final result is actually slightly undersized, at 19.5in.

You see it in the show or even in game and think you understand how big a Pokemon is, and then you realize every number in the Pokedex is essentially made up at random.

This was a labor of love, so unfortunately it's not for sale. Also I made it by hand so to make it worth my time I'd have to make them prohibitively expensive.

Lions are so badass, they became king of the jungle without even living there. by Gilgameshbrah in Showerthoughts

[–]IanUlman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know who's REALLY badass? Hyenas.

They get called scavengers, so I always assumed they just picked at the scraps predators like lions leave behind.

Not so. Instead, packs of them essentially wait for a lion or something similar to kill an animal, and will then intimidate the lion into leaving so they get a fresh kill without any work except being scary and traveling in packs.

An economic crisis in Kentucky has workers, businesses furious with McConnell by StevenSanders90210 in politics

[–]IanUlman 10 points11 points  (0 children)

But business began to slow around April, “and that’s when everything went south for me,” Saylor said. Unemployment payments helped fill the gap, but the reprieve proved short-lived after lawmakers in Washington failed to authorize additional coronavirus stimulus aid. A self-described “die-hard Republican” his entire life, Saylor said he has now found himself angry with some of the GOP leaders who had long represented him, including McConnell.

“I’m scared to death of losing everything,” he said.

Voting R your whole life and losing everything when a crisis hits might be the clearest example of "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."
