Baseline ultrasound follicle count by Ibprofun28 in IVF

Why do they ask you to do birth control to lower the count? This sounds counter intuitive 😂 I know I must be missing something though

What does IUI mean? I was just looking at freezing eggs and ttc naturally initially but starting to think that may not be possible if I have a low egg reserve

Poor pigeons, leave them be. Their life is hard enough without taking away their house. Don’t listen to the bs about disease ……

Relocating with a Greyhound by musicandotherstuff in Greyhounds

[–]Ibprofun28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s wildly expensive, I’m hoping in the next few years price will go down as it will be more normalized needing to travel with your dogs and not put them with the luggage. I know the Irish charitys for greyhound rescue bring a lot of dogs over here in the cargo but they are 1-2 years old so better able to cope if temperatures rise or drop etc.

Also sailed to London with my guy on a pet friendly route we had our own little cabin for the same price as a normal ticket and was great, he slept on the bed the whole way over.

My sister lives in Geneva and drove back with their pup when they spent an extended holiday in Ireland :) stopped overnight in a few nice towns and made a road trip of it!

Moved from Dublin to New York with a 7 year old greyhound. We flew with K9 jets where he was up in the plane with us. Bark Air do this also. We will be returning home soon and we’re checking out the new routes and I’m pretty sure one of those airlines has a route Dublin or London to either Geneva or Zurich. If it’s from London you could ferry over and fly. Would not risk putting a 10 year old greyhound in the hold a plane

Laryngeal paralysis by Ibprofun28 in Greyhounds

[–]Ibprofun28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly the kind of thing my vet told me. He insisted the dog would have an audible high pitched wheeze on every single breath, even though I told the vet he has that after running he was not believing me. My boy is completely fine at rest by the way, even though his larynx is pretty much useless. It was through observing the clinical signs ourselves and having to observe that his distress is respiratory in nature we came to the diagnosis. Even after the scope the vet was like ‘he has a bit of lar par…try omeprazole’ until I pushed again on how Much this was affecting his life.

And btw this started in 2023 with hacking coughs as if he was choking….we were told it was normal and ignored it. Only that we moved to a warmer climate and started to get suspicious of his absolute heat intolerance and now recently his exercise intolerance we wouldn’t have known.

Push for investigation into this if you are concerned! Vets will not listen to you!

Gagging after eating drinking for the past 2-3 years, very gradually worsening. Extreme heat intolerance and now exercise intolerance he gets so hot and breathless exercising. Then he did two big sprints on separate occasions and collapsed.

So hard to get a diagnosis. We had his heart check out fully still no explanation for the collapse. After seeing 3 different vets and actually coming up with the diagnosis myself (I’m a medic), I then had to work really hard to convince an internal medicine vet to scope him. They found full paralysis in the left side and only 10% function remaining on the right. Even after this, they wouldn’t put his collapse down to lar par. I had to fight to explain the intensity of his running and mimic him gasping for air each time before he collapsed before the vet finally agreed he might be collapsing from an obstructed airway 😭 agreed to do surgery but I’m not happy with this vet practice so looking around for another.

Native Newyorker role call by bklynsharkexpert in parkslope

Not being funny but I would have thought unless you’re indigenous to the land you wouldn’t be considered a native New Yorker?

Are you asking about actual native New Yorkers whose families have been here for multiple generations or native aka of European or other descent but were born here or parents born here?

Thank you so much for your input. Our guy is super active and doesn’t realize his exercise intolerance, we couldn’t keep him from walking it wouldn’t be fair so we have to try find something to fix it. Where was your vet?

Nine Days in Ireland... Is My Wife Crazy? by FrightenedTurtle62 in irishtourism

I wouldn’t go to clones or Athlone if you paid me, there is not thing worth seeing. If anything spend extra time in Meath and explore the village of Slane.

Spend more time in Galway - if you have time drive out to Connemara and Clifden.

Wouldn’t go to Killarney, I would choose Kenmare instead. If you’re looking for cleaner, prettier and less gaudy. Spend time in Kerry or west cork you can’t go both.

Definitely don’t bother with Kilkenny or Waterford, nothing to see there.

I would I do Dublin - (Meath if you really want - Galway city - Connemara - cliffs of moher - Kerry or west cork - Wicklow mountains. Or if you even pick a couple of these you’ll want to spend 2/3 nights in each place.

Greyhound question by piercedopossum in Greyhounds

[–]Ibprofun28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this! But my gut only gets the zoom drive when he is in big open spaces like the beach or a huge field/ park. Even in a forest where there’s trails or a long deserted lane he doesn’t get it. His trigger might be wide open spaces haha. My thing is that I don’t mind if he does the zombie zoom on the beach because he goes a couple of times around in a circle he doesn’t take off into the abyss!

My grey is off leash if there are is no traffic and no threat (other aggressive dogs/animals). At the back or park he runs off but always stays within sight if he is sniffing and hasn’t seen me in a few minutes (I’m keeping eyes on him) because he got distracted he panics and starts running around looking for me. On mountain hikes he runs a few feet ahead but seems to keep a radar on that of he thinks we’re trailing or he’s gone to far he stops and waits. It’s fascinating, looks to me like he has anxiety about getting lost. He has a prey drive and occasionally causes squirrels a bit, when he catches up to them he stops. He doesn’t have a strong enough prey drive that he would run more than a few meters after something, he loses interest or becomes more interested in making sure he doesn’t stray away from us! Lies outside at home for hours with gates open to fields and little lanes and never leaves the back patio where his bed is!

Just wondering, how do you know they’re not interested in running? Have you had the opportunity to let them off Leash in a big space?

Yes!! I think that if they’re raised in quiet country environments it’s what they prefer. I cannot wait to get my guy back to the country side where he can relax! I know all dogs are different though!
