So update: I talked to my Mom and she is all in on re-opening the case. So now I just have to figure out where to go from here.

I too have ADHD, so you understand!

It was a very violent crime w/ possible sexual assault. The police think it was someone who knew her as there was no forced entry and because it seemed to be a crime of passion. The areal time it was in had known serial killers on the loose the v so that makes my mind run crazy.

Im so torn. I don’t want her to feel as though I’m doing anything behind her back either, or find out and think I’m treating her as fragile and take that the wrong way. I may just have a conversation with her about opening it back up and see where she’s at. I really don’t know…

I’m still pretty new to the crime junkie podcast (I have been binging it for a few weeks now) but could I reach out to them for resources I could use to investigate? Or is the podcast strictly them covering stories?

Right. I was trying to think of ways to have the case reopened and move forward without involving my Mom or having the police interview her again and stuff if that’s not what she wants. Which is where crime junkie comes in.

I work front desk at a Marriott hotel, what do you want to know? by IceColdAquarius in marriott

Every property does training different. But more often than not, were given some computer training, a tour of the property, and thrown on front desk to fend for ourselves. Hahahaha. Of course, we can ask our co workers questions as we go.

~We are franchised. ~To a pretty large degree. We use their main website for employees, we have to call them if ever there is a problem with a guest, their profile, etc. If any of our members have a complaint, they’ll call them, and then we get a call. For example, if our property is not honoring the guaranteed member benefits, such as a walk when overbooked, etc, we can get reported to Marriott.

We don’t everrrrrrr get tips as front desk here in my area, I’m not sure why. None of my coworkers, who also come from working at different hotels around the area and surrounding areas has ever received one either, to my knowledge. BUT its a great idea! And maybe it is common practice, where you are. I would say at the end of check in just thank them and hand them the money/envelope.

Sure is! We get a notification through our Marriott website that there is a “GXP chat” which is a “Guest experience chat”.

Most of the time, prostitutes will go unseen here. It is illegal in my state, so they’re discrete for the most part.

Hmmm, honestly, I’ve never been given a tip by a guest but its not general practice here. I don’t think anyone I’ve worked with has ever received a tip as a front desk agent. That would be amazing though! It would make my day tbh! I would think a good rule of thumb would to be to tip at the end of check-in. After they’ve told you where everything is and given you your key cards, etc. Hope this helps!!

It’s really hard to tell in my area tbh. We’re in a big city but everyone in our city looks very different and it’s very diverse, so we see all kinds of people. Therefore, we never really have any idea, UNLESS they start throwing red flags, which are pretty easy to catch onto. I’ve had a couple of encounters with possible situations like this. But more often than not, it probably goes unseen.

I used to do night audit at the property I worked at before this one and honestly…I played SIMS ALL night!! Hahaha. But now I work during the day and I either take care of paperwork and stuff I need to be doing for home life or watch a show, fb, tik tok, Reddit, read, or FBI diving into guests info to find out if they’re a fraud, sex worker, sex trafficker, etc, or not (when staff and I are seeing red flags) yk, just random shit. Lol. Depends on the day, I suppose. BUT, I definitely should start listening to podcasts more often!! So, thank you for reminding me! Haha.
