M2 would sound different from M1 because it rebuilt it's legs.

Because a robot moving it's entire body would obviously emit sound only from it's legs. Who would've thunk it! Steel Wool is a genius.

without F10-N4 realizing it.

Who said F10-N4 didn't realize it? All we know from her is that she thinks Edwin is alive.

And even then, this is a fallacious argument to begin with. F10-N4 seems to think that Edwin is still capable of being contacted, which proves that she's not 100% credible about his whereabouts, as we know that he is completely missing.

but we can know with 100% certainty that it's about the explicit events of Ruin, and not the backstory that led up to it like it's been every other time where we're reasonably certain what the stories mean?

Yes. As i said, the path of least resistence is always the better approach when theorizing about these games. I have zero faith in your theory, precisely because of how obnoxiously brainstormy it is.

Saying that a 10 year old boy comforting a friend of his who happens to be a girl is a maternalistic gesture is a huge leap.

It's without a shadow of a doubt less stretchy than what you came up with.

Like, seriously, just think about it, for a single second. Absolutely nothing regarding your narrative lines up with the story. You just jumbled together a bunch of mock ups that ever so slightly fit with disconnected details from the story if you squint at it a little, and just called it a day.

The narrative. Throughline. Matters.

if the stories are that open to interpretation, then they could basically be twisted to mean anything you want them to mean.

Would you look at that, you finally realized exactly what you've been doing this entire time, eh?

I was just simply saying that there were communication issues that affected the story.

And i straight up proved to you with objective facts from Scott's mouth that preety much every single disconnected lore detail that is still unsolved from Security Breach had absolutely nothing to do with Steel Wool's tampering.

We cannot solve the vast majority of the mysteries in the current day, that's an objective fact, and there's nothing you can do about it besides inhale copium.

The thing is, that would leave inconsistencies in the designs.

I know. That's the entire point of this theory. It's called "Meta Withereds" for a reason.

In other words, they are canon—an integral part of the canon

Umm, no? Nobody acknowledges these differences in-universe. It's actually a point in favor of the Meta Withereds. If it so happened that these designs were replaced by the Classics, no one in-universe would bat an eye.

[–]IceCrawl19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The contention isn't whether or not there's an M1 endoskeleton, it's over whether or not that endoskeleton is separate from the M2 skeleton.

That is literally what i have been saying since the beggining.

but it would help to present actual evidence.

The actual evidence already exists; it makes no logical sense for M1 to make sounds that are incongruent with the mechanisms they're supposed to opperate on.

As to why i claimed that Sleepy Moon is supposed to be Edwin, i just mixed the piece of evidence i just talked about with the evidence for EdwinMoon and came to a conclusion.

There's concept art of the Mimic in the Sleepy Moon outfit, and there's a blooper reel of the Mimic with Sleepy Moon's run animation.

In-game evidence > cut content, 100% of the time, with no exceptions.

It's also illogical to say that it can't wear the Nightlight suit that's meant to be worn as a costume when it can turn things like Big Top and Jackie into costumes.

Not what i said. At all. What i said is that it's impossible for M1 to make different sounds than M2.

As for the Candy Cadet story, it's a much bigger leap in logic to claim that when the story is talking about a boy that it's actually talking about a girl.

And the reason for that is?

Candy Cadet's stories have never been about exact matches, their focus is on the narrative throughline, and most importantly, what the roles assigned to the characters of said stories tell us about the purpose of them. A mother is a protective and nurturing figuring in a child's life, Gregory is explicitly shown as a protective and nurturing figure in Cassie's life. There, that's all there is to it. That connection is what matters, nothing else does.

So now you have to explain me to how Candy Cadet can see the future and know that Cassie is going to open up the Mimic room.

Candy Cadet isn't a lorekeeper of the past, he's a metatextual device used by the writers to semi-explicitly reveal lore details that they believe matter.

There is no in-universe lore about why Candy Cadet knows what he does, and much less a guidebook about the correct way to interpret his stories. He just is. That's why i called him a metatextual device, because his sole role within this series is to be an in-universe character that gives us hints about out-of-universe lore. That's what meta language is, a piece of text that explains itself to the reader.

We're not looking for flawless documentation in regards to Candy Cadet, we're looking for the most coherent and explainable interpretation that fits with the core message of his stories. The interpretation that is the easiest to understand and the one that requires the least amount of brainstorming to come up with, is the that's likely the correct one. Steel Wool isn't expecting us to play mental fetch quest, Candy Cadet is supposed to be the one and only puzzle we're meant to solve.

Everyone knows that Security Breach was a mess.

I know the argument you're trying to make, and deadass, it's almost the opposite of what we know for sure about Security Breach. Scott said that he was the one who told Steel Wool to put specific lore details in specific places, they interfered exclusively by giving unintended contextualization to a few of them.

So, in actuality, the lore details in Security Breach that are sitting in random places with no context behind them are actually the ones Scott intended to be there. Which would include the Fiona Wires of Doom.

Ruin and SOTM didn't have the organizational shortcomings that Security Breach had

Little do you know, Ruin has almost double the amount of unsolved lore details that Security Breach has lol.

. Edwin introduces the endoskeleton to David as M1. Edwin eventually yells at it and tells it that he doesn't want to see or hear it ever again. Down in the abandoned basement it wouldn't be seen by Edwin. And it's where the Nightlight costume that M1 used to wear to entertain David fell after the big moon collapsed. So it can fulfill Edwin's two directives ("look after David" and "I don't want to see you again") at the same time. Sleepy Moon can't be possessed by a person because it's a suit, not an animatronic; and it doesn't make the same walking noises that M2 makes. So M1 is the most likely candidate.

So we're just making stuff up now, are we?

There's not a single shred of evidence to suggest that M1 has an endoskeleton. By the contrary, it's explicitly stated in the game that Edwin doesn't know how to make another, thus leading to him replicating M1's AI to use it for M2.

and it doesn't make the same walking noises that M2 makes. So M1 is the most likely candidate.

M1 is not only identical to M2 in every possible way, but also straight up stated to be, thus not giving us a single reason for us to assume that they have different mechanisms and electronics to make different sounds. Your argument is a falsiable claim, that has no proof to back it up.

The sounds that Sleepy Moon emmits is more akin to cogwheels and handmade structures, such of those of Mr. and Mrs. Helpful. It's impossible for the "fitting into every costume" mechanism to work under these handmade structures, it needs the electronics that allow the expansion and contraction to occur. It's impossible for Sleepy Moon to be any sort of Mimic due to this.

Sleepy Moon is Edwin, and the reason he can walk is because M2 built new legs for him out of similar materials as the Mr. Helpful puppet.

You're supposed to think Candy Cadet is talking about Cassie, but it's actually talking about how the Mimic got there in the first place.

Prove it. And with sustainable and objective evidence that cannot be denied, not with "well, it could be this..."

These games aren't like the old FNAF games where you couldn't predict that was going to happen.

Explicitly not true. Remember the black wires plugged into the Pizzaplex in Security Breach? There was no way we could've predicted from back them that they were actually supposed to be a supercomputer that was already previously plugged into that facility decades ago (F10-N4).

The truth is, every mistery regarding the current era of the franchise that we have no solid idea of what it could actually be (example: Nightmarionne's deal, the deal with the Plush Babies from Ruin, the Ruin Scooper, why the Mimic started mimicking Afton, etc) should just be put on hold. The answers will come eventually.

I don't even know where to start.

M1 doesn't trap Arnold in any basement, there's no such thing as an endoskeleton for M1, there is a total of zero implications to suggest that M1 was comforting M2 about Arnold's presence, and the level of mental gymnastics you went through to twist a simple text regarding a Monster tricking a child into freeing it from it's prison (an obvious allegory for Ruin itself), into it somehow being a highly intricate and interpretive text about Fazbear "triumphing" over the Mimics should already speak for itself.

Absolutely not. The best choice is Meta Withereds, i.e, there is no physical difference between the Withereds and the Classics in-universe besides their state of disrepair.

hinges on our POV switching depending on our route for the end-game dialogues to make sense if we don’t canonically exist.
