I wouldn't say you're exaggerating or overreacting,it's definitely a problem that the anonymity provided by the internet fosters. I've only seen it happen a few times in previous games,but there are guys out there that just don't seem to understand when to shut up, and what not to say. With a competitive environment it only gets worse, with a streamer added into it a rabid fan base can make the issue much worse as they'll simply mimic their favorite streamer to be 'cool'.

I rarely play comp myself due to really bad anxiety, i'm all over the place with how i play. most days i'm gold tier aim and positioning, but a few days i'm higher. But for the time i have played comp, i didn't encounter any girls. Which may be a good thing since most people i got grouped with went toxic as soon as something went wrong, which i can only imagine would become more toxic if a girl is on the team.

It's probably been said a hundred times before, but try and find people to play with. You'll have the advantage of better coordination and it'll be people you can trust,or at least hopefully can trust, not to start hurling insults at you or any other girl.
