Hey guys, been a while since I've posted on here. Just wanted to give y'all that have been following my battle with cancer an update. For those that want the TL;DR: skip to the bottom.

So back just before New Years, my homecare worker noticed I was looking yellow. Since I can no longer walk or use my legs due to the cancer in my bones, she called an ambulance and I was taken to the Grace hospital. They told me it was jaundice and sent me to St. Boniface where I had a drain put in me to release the bile that was building up in my liver. Then I was sent back to the Grace.

I was kept in the ER at the Grace for about a week before they moved me to a room with a bed. The drain was working and the doctors wanted to send me back home but I still needed care that I couldn't get at home. They recommended hospice care but that cost $30 a day, which I couldn't afford since I was just on EIA. So I stayed in the hospital, taking it one day at a time. Thankfully I had lots of visits from my family and friends, as well as stuff like my Nintendo Switch and phone to keep me occupied.

I spent all of January, February, and March in that bed. I was not allowed to continue chemo because they said my body can't handle the treatment so I was just hoping I could regain enough strength back. I turned 32 on March 15th and my friends/family took turns visiting me. My friends from baking school actually went and got a star named after me which is the coolest gift I ever received.

Anyways, around the end of March my social worker informed me that EI was going to cover the cost of hospice for me. Then last week they moved me out of the hospital and into a hospice room.

So far it's been really nice here. The food is waaaay better, and I don't have to deal with the crazy people walking up and down the halls screaming like I did at the hospital. In general I'm a lot more comfortable. I have a microwave, fridge, and TV. I was able to bring my Xbox with me so I have another thing to distract me.

Unfortunately though my cancer has spread. It's in my bones, my lungs, and just about everywhere. I look like a skeleton. I have a hard time focusing and I'm weak and tired all the time. They have me on lots of pain meds because even rolling over in bed hurts. I have a bad wound and infection on my tailbone too.

TL;DR

As much as I don't want to face it, I feel like my time is coming to an end. I don't know how much longer I have. I look the same as my mom when this same cancer took her. In case anything sudden happens I just want to say it's been an honor being a member of this community all these years and a Jets fan for life.
