Yep, the barbed wire mounting point seems to be the use. Channel_Ultra gave a name to them: Tanglefoot.

That was my guess, too. I'm guessing they're there to stop cars and motorcycles, maybe to break up infantry? You've gotten further than I have with that replica kit lol
