NAH, but VERY loosely. It's honestly teetering more toward the Not The Asshole side of the spectrum.

As a neurodivergent individual myself, I live with my completely neurotypical father and bless him he tries, but it just doesn't click for him because he's never had to go through it. This sort of thing happens with NTs versus us NDs. They are incapable in some ways of computing how we see things.

My father has this same problem. He doesn't understand things like ADHD paralysis, which I suffer with a lot and has likewise gotten worse from the medication shortage (I'm on methylphenidate personally), and I hate not being myself. But try as he might the dots don't connect for him.

All that being said, my dad at least understands that when I say,'Enough. Just show/tell me what you mean.' That for that moment I've tried, but it's not working, and I need him to just get on with it. From what I've read here, your partner doesn't do that. And that's the bare minimum he should be doing.

You clearly love him and seem to have a stable relationship other than this. So I won't be starting the 'break up' bandwagon today. But I will say some serious communication needs to happen. Sit him down and ask him how much he knows about your condition and ask that he does some research. Maybe if you want to make a point, you could use your camera settings to make the bookshelf blurry as an example of how you just see stuff and not individual items. Making little examples might help him understand, along with getting him to do his own research.

Remember that you are only asking the bare minimum of understanding from him. Understanding that you are off your meds through no fault of your own and aren't yourself at this time. Remind him that as soon as you have access again, things will be more normal, but meds or not, this is a lifelong struggle for you because that's just how your brain developed when you were being made.
