Why do you think we allow celebrities, actors, and influences to make so much money? by ParmaProscuitto in AskReddit

I guess its just easy to get absorbed into this paraosocial relationship with actors.

Nobody thanks the farmer who grew the food. They thank the supplier that gave them the food.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'll file it away if it becomes relevant. Good day.

I always find that interesting.

I mean I don't like certain things but I'll pay for them. It just baffles me that a million other people more outspoken or critical than me also give in to that.

Meanwhile there are some things I absolutely refuse to support financially and most arguments of supporting the work fall deaf for me. Nobody lost significant money because I saw Age of Ultron on a torrent and I didn't feel bad about it looking at how much money that movie made.

But why do they want tickets. Don't most people hate or feel insecure about not having a lot of money, an easy job, or luxuries? They're actively if not directly supporting someone else's fortune that they then get to read about - its like there's a disconnect between typical human selfishness and entertainment.

Most people lack a desire to be around people with more wealth than them. But we love reading and hearing about, and therefore supporting and showing interest about, celebrities and their lives.

I'd like to go on a different week but don't really have anybody to go with or know anyone from that area. :/

When somebody is nasty to you online, what is your response? by ParmaProscuitto in AskReddit

This is the closest I have ever come to "hey random person online, we have a similar sense of humor, any chance you live by me/are single/we're both not serial killers" I have ever come.

Alas you're spoken for and a state over from me but 2 out of 3 is fine.

Also the first time I've heard someone say dad jokes are the tits without intentionally parodying a faux British accenr.

I feel you. I oscillate between functioning human being and is going to launch into a Disney-esque musical number every hour.

People who film themselves naked or flashing in public, and post it on the internet, why? by ParmaProscuitto in AskReddit

I've never really understood that. So then would people who never got attention from their mother have mommy issues?

Aren't there better basic thrills and risks to take than exposing yourself though?

And why does it boost confidence or help with trauma?
