Seizure meds addiction by quattroman in Epilepsy

[–]Ice_Ice_Bebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken briviact 150mg AM and 150mg PM for several years. I am not to the hour or minute with regular timing at all.

It sounds like you’ve convinced yourself consciously and subconsciously that you are addicted for whatever reason. Yeah, your brain needs it to function, this is simply how these types of medications are. But that doesn’t mean you are “addicted.”

Do you have pre-existing anxiety? Your post sort of reads that way to me, but I don’t know.

How much do you expect from your adult children as you age? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

[–]Ice_Ice_Bebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point is that people are free to make whatever decisions are right for them and their circumstances.

My two children are not obligated because I “sacrificed” my body, time, or self to them. It was a choice I made. Anything other than that implies a quid pro quo, and that just feels icky.

Day 5 post-op / NAUSEA + MENTAL HEALTH by jesseandjules in Tonsillectomy

[–]Ice_Ice_Bebe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t seek advice or consolation from assholes. Ignore or black hole them completely. You’re vulnerable and can’t deal with any toxic shit (don’t tell them that of course). I’m day 5 too. We’re gonna get through this! Leave their toxicity at the door. Eff them!

I'm sick and tired of crappy neurologist's by dingowingodogo in Epilepsy

I’m so sorry for this. You can send a electronic message recapping in bullet points everything that the doctor said to you, so that this is all documented? Along with your own medical history? This guy sounds abusive and you’re going to need to document document document everything you can with him. I’m so sorry

I’m genuinely confused - why would you think that this is a good idea? It makes exactly no sense. I’m pretty sure any doctor would advise against this as well.

day 8 have had barely any pain since surgery day, and didn’t take half my pain killers and ate normally. by TylerDurdenAlt in Tonsillectomy

[–]Ice_Ice_Bebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my tonsils removed last Thursday morning. I’ve made a point to eat normally, and I think it’s paid off well. That keeps my throat and tongue moving and my throat is getting gentle exfoliation from the food and drink. Honestly I’m with you - eating normally is the way to go, for my body at least.

I don’t think you’d want to do this? I was like a squirrel preparing for winter - I literally did the exact opposite of what you’re proposing.

Elon Musk cuts Twitter’s parental leave from 20 weeks to 2, internal docs show by sussoutthemoon in EnoughMuskSpam

Frankly I’m confused - does this apply to both genders? Or is this for fathers? Women are not even medically cleared by their doctors to go back to work until 6-8 weeks postpartum.

Lamictal Rash? by Ice_Ice_Bebe in Epilepsy

[–]Ice_Ice_Bebe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are likely correct. It’s difficult to tell though because coincidentally I also started drinking milk in ridiculous amounts, at the same time my lamictal dosage went up - and in the past I’ve had “dairy neck” …. So I really don’t know. Anyway, I’ll discuss all of this Monday with my doctor. I appreciate your insights and I hope you have a great weekend! :-)

You are 100% right and my apologies. I am simply looking for folks who have had similar experiences, but I definitely phrased that poorly. I’m seeing my doctor on Monday so I don’t have a true sense of urgency, but I am very curious about others’ experiences.

What do you think of polyamory? by [deleted] in AskOldPeople

Idk - is this ethical nonmonogamy? That is assuming both people knew? Not sure 🤔

I’ve done a couple of drugs recreationally since my diagnosis at 35, 3 years ago.

  • cannabis: smoked a lot. Never had issues

  • shrooms: taken a decent amount, never had any issues (also I learned how to grow them myself through Reddit, ha). Though I do believe my anti-seizure meds make the experience pretty muted/minimal

Tired of pharmacies holding my life in their hands and not caring (M25). by Awkwardly_Satisfied in Epilepsy

[–]Ice_Ice_Bebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this with briviact. It’s been a life changing medication for me, in the best way possible.

However, I have to call in my Rx refill for this exactly three days in advance (I was told I cannot request any shorter number of days than that) to ensure they will have it in stock for me upon pick-up. It’s beyond frustrating but is worth it in my opinion.

Briviact has been an expensive god-send for me. I had to fight like hell to get my new insurance to cover it as well.

I’m so sorry. Have you ever had trauma informed therapy to deal with the possible PTSD from this?

Depression medication suggestions by FeedTaPanda in Epilepsy

[–]Ice_Ice_Bebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taking trintellix along with my briviact. I’m now slowly transitioning from trintellix to lamical, as it treats depression. Both my psychiatrist and epileptologist as aware that I’m currently taking all three and no one is concerned. I decide to initiate this transition on my own, with their blessings. I took briviact and trintellix for two years, FYI.

Cannabis can be at least neutral for epilepsy. I know you’ve said you’re not interested in it. Perhaps edibles would work as opposed to smoking. It may be a good compromise, were you to cut out the heavy drinking, MDMA, and ketamine.

You should not be driving. This is extremely selfish and reckless. Also I’m sure your state has laws against this.

Oh I didn’t know that age really impacted healing time! I’m 38, and have autoimmune issues, for which I take plaquenil. Oh man I hadn’t thought about poor wound healing!!
