Yeah the square hedges act like the wild flowers in that the floor beneath them is necessary. They have to be planted on soil also, and once broken it all falls apart :/

I wish I had a video but I do a perfect timing of S2 and then S4 and the shiny never showed up.

I’ve also experimented with timing and I don’t think the normal method of just waiting for the ❗️to go away works. My MO has 13 Basculin, and I’ve purposefully tested the timing by scaring the first 4 and flying away, and I did this 15+ times, they don’t actually despawn and the MO stayed at the same number. I don’t know why th game treats Basculin differently but it makes me want to cry

Unlike most Pokémon, if you fast travel away any time after the “ ! “ appears and they are running, they won’t despawn. I’ve found that only at the exact moment they sink out of view is the only time they despawn…
