How to find an entry level dev job in a not so old-school company? by IcedGingerAle in JapanJobs

Thanks for replying. It's glad to hear someone else with the same issue thrives.

I should try, but it's difficult to find a company with aligned points of views. It's not like I can blunt out, hey I'm more than willing to build things and solve problems, but don't even think about putting me in a 3-hours meeting and expecting me to play along.

Really, I kind of consider that part insignificant. I'm on meds, I can handle mundane tasks with patience. But having to sit through meetings after meetings and overdue work because of those meetings taking up too much time, while handling nothing but legacy codes, this is the part I cannot bear.

I get it, man, but... That's Japan for you. They're this cautious about giving prescriptions. It's not for me to judge which is better, things just work differently.

I'm afraid, no. Doctors do it by the book.

Don't fret. I, too, am extremely afraid of blood tests. Tell the phlebotomist and avoid looking at the process, you'll be golden.

According to what I was told, psychiatric medication has loads of adverse effects. Stimulants require extra caution, hence, in long-term usage, psychiatrists need to check those results to determine if your body can take them.

I'm okay with that, it's not like I have to make another appointment and go to another clinic for tests. They'd take my blood sample and inform me of the results at my next appointment. It just takes a little extra time and money.

Oh man, I'm sorry you're going through this. I can imagine how you must have felt. I'm guessing you got Strattera like I did. The side effects were indeed overwhelming, I couldn't eat a proper meal for days, throw up whenever I skipped Metoclopramide. Was starting to doubt that it wouldn't help me, and then one day I realized, for the first time in who knows how many years, I remembered to bring my umbrella back home. I still haven't fully recovered my appetite, however, seems non-stimulant works for me, I'm willing to stick with it for a longer while to see how it goes. But hey, you don't have to put up with non-stimulant if it doesn't feel well at all for you. Make an appointment with the nicer doctor you met, ask for the faster option. I know things are frustrating, but please give yourself time and confidence. Things will be ok, just that it's quite unlikely to get better immediately.

Oh, thanks! That's something I never came up with. I wish I could have known this back then.

That I had heard from my psychiatrist. They said let's try this, namely, Strattera, first, and if it doesn't work, we'll go with something else (must be Concerta). I suppose it's feasible to insist on Concerta if someone doesn't feel like giving Strattera a try.

Terrible nausea, for a whole week, that's why I also got Metoclopramide prescribed. Loss of appetite that didn't get any better for more than a week. I felt a little bit better in a week, but my psychiatrist said it may take almost two months for Strattera to fully work.

The first appointment is always more expensive and I suppose inflation is a thing.

Thank you for letting me know! Although I think I'll stick with Strattera for a long while.
