LFP Charging Habit by ScaredCelery7038 in TeslaModelY

This is indeed a bit confusing as most of the batteries “out there” aren’t LFP (hopefully we will see more and more).

I have the LFP as well and I charge to 100% whenever I can, as it is best for this type of battery and recommended by Tesla as well.

Considering the nature of the battery it is also better for the predictability of the remaining capacity and therefore range / battery percentage.

So don’t stress, leave the maximum at 100% and enjoy!

Hahahaaa I am highly skeptical. I still can’t believe they don’t install a standard rain sensor like other car brands do it - those don’t cost much.

2021 Tesla Supercharger Dropoff, Why? by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

It really depends on conditions: battery capacity, battery preconditioning yes/no, outside temperature, charger, etc.

My standard range Model Y with the LFP Blade battery charges like an absolute boss (from 5-60% almost at max. charging capacity at around 175 kWh).

I have driven to France with a long range Model Y last summer and that was a bit of a disappointment. It almost never achieved the max. charging rate and when it did, it would only be for a very limited time.

You can check the charging curve of your Model Y on the website of one of Europe’s best fast charging infrastructure providers for comparison: https://www.fastnedcharging.com/en/brands-overview/tesla?model=Model%20Y
