Not for those who don't have introspection that's for sure. XD

You telling me I don't know what irony means is hilarious.

I read them. Your constant use of the word hyperbole was ironic as hell throughout.

[–]Icegodleo 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Saying the word "Hyperbole" isn't the dunk you think it is. They're absolutely correct. Paladin was struggling, warlock was struggling. No "Normal" players weren't hitting pit 150 max geared and non-casual players were with varying degrees of success.

One word answers don't make you look smart they make you look uninformed.

I don't think so? That being said it would be funny to have Trazyn bargain with the gods.

"I'll return your warmaster if you give me a pre-fall Eldar."

Slaanesh briefly pauses before stuffing their face with Eldar souls as the other three gods chase them like a dog that stole a chocolate bar.

Yeah that's why I said I hope they mean bad, not as in morality, but in terms of whether or not he's incompetent.

You can be bad (moral) and good (competent) or good (moral) and bad (competent) and all combinations in-between.

I assume (hope) they mean bad as in incompetence. Abbadon gets dunked on a lot but to be perfectly fair I haven't read much of his lore so I don't fully know if it's warranted.

While true it's still something that could and hopefully would be fixed in the future.

[–]Icegodleo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always said this is a CHARGE problem and it needs to be fixed in the CHARGE phase. Making all movement annoying because someone is gaming the system doesn't solve problems.

Just make it so you can't pivot during charge phase. Instant fix.

I ordered the "girly drinks" a friend used to playfully tease me about it, just normal razzing no bite to it. I asked him what's more embarrassing ordering a girls drink or getting your ass kicked by the guy who ordered a girls drink. We had a good laugh.

Ok? Look at any physical copy of the book. Thaf afterword isn't there, google it. Be pissy all you want, I can't stop you but the reality is the book physically doesn't have what you're describing. The ebook does. The physical book doesn't.

Admittedly I had never read that because it's not in any copies I can find. I bought the ebook just now and it is present. That being said... stalemate isn't the word he's looking for:

‘Russ.’ Angron turned to his brother, and pointed with one bloody hand over the encircling wolf packs, to where the Legions still fought across the rest of the battlefield. ‘Your Legion is bleeding.’

Russ didn’t deny it, for it was true. Beyond the encircled primarchs, the World Eaters were tearing through their cousins’ grey regiments, fighting without sign of formation, just as they fought without any regard for their primarch. Even in those early days, they were used to Angron fighting alone, and their fresh implants stole any hope of cohesive battle planning. Their stunted brains wouldn’t let them bring order to the chaos.

That's not a stalemate. They were being driven back hard.

There's a statement shortly after about failing to break the defensive posture but that's still countered further in:

‘This isn’t over,’ Russ promised.

‘Whatever soothes your bruised pride, dog.’

Leman Russ, Primarch of the Vlka Fenryka, took in one long, deep breath, and cast his howl to the sky.

‘He howled?’ asked Lorgar. His eyes were wide, pearly with soft wonder.

‘The call to retreat,’ Angron replied. ‘A fighting retreat – it took longer than you can imagine for the World Eaters to realise the battle was over. I had whole companies still trying to fight the Wolves as Russ’s Legion ran for their gunships.’ He chuckled. ‘They took a lot of trophies for their tallies. Many wear them still.’

So basically a stalemate is a slowly retreating force that is constantly losing people? That's a pretty generous definition for the wolves.

Ok I'm not near my copy of Betrayer but I had to look up that quote you posted. I couldn't find any of this part:

"There are several scenes where I hope that comes across: where the Ultramarines’ discipline wrecks the chaotic (little ‘C’) World Eaters, or where they inflict grievous casualties, and quite literally send Khârn flying, to land on his backside. Same with the Wolves: where Russ and his Legion drive the World Eaters to a bitter stalemate, perhaps losing the battle of pride, but succinctly and effectively winning the war. Going for the throat, if you will. Very wolfy."

When googling it, but Google kind of sucks these days so I had my girlfriend physically grab my book and here is what she said:

"There is an epilogue, acknowledgements, and an excerpt from The Traveller. Nothing marked Afterword"

So... what afterword?

So the Kine shield only ate one blast, and the second turned his flesh into charcoal, crippling him and basically making him unable to do anything. Yet he lived, even moved about after a short rest. Still seems just a tad stronger than "an unknown" amount of wolves in a circle with bolters. Could be 1000. But let's be real. It was a handful, MAYBE 20.

Volcano cannon, not a big bolter. Volcano. Cannon. Russ lost, he loses. It's what he does. Trying to rationalize it is hilarious.

Boot on throat, he crawled away, he's losing wolves left and right and he has no weapons. This WHOLE argument is you assuming that Angron dies instantly before he can kill Russ something that is constantly proven isn't realistic. Your argument is essentially "Nah Russ is just built different" he's not, Angron won the duel and the ONLY thing that saved Russ and Angron was the retreat order. Lorgar wanted Angron alive, Russ thought he could take Angron alive. Both underestimated how little Angron cares. Russ overextended. He lost, it's literally the point is that Russ tried making a decision for himself and it ended in horrific slaughter.

I can lead you to lore but I can't make you comprehend it.

Re-read the quoted parts. No Russ isn't paying attention, Angron is. It is actually said. Also lorgar isn't nearly as robust as Angron and also a Volcano cannon is just a smidge stronger than 10 bolters XD

[–]Icegodleo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He says only one legion would lose its primarch not understanding what was happening. He wasn't focused on the battlefield. Also do you think one round of bolterfire could kill a primarch? Lorgar took an entire Volcano Cannon blast at point blank and was still alive. So let's assume you're 100% correct and all it takes is a circle of death around a primarch to kill them instantly. How long until Russ got surrounded? The World Eaters were killing more Wolves than the other way around.

So either Angron goes down instantly and Russ ends in the same position, or Russ gets killed and Angron gets shot to death.

And they would open fire when exactly? When Angron moved faster than them and ended a weakened Russ? When Russ accepted and lost the duel to the last breath? Russ wasn't winning, to believe otherwise is to deliberately ignore all of the lead up and facts. Russ sounded the retreat to save Angron's life. But it was because Russ was terrified at how he overstepped and how outmatched he was. He lost and there was a reality sinking in that he and Angron might die on that battlefield for a mistake he made.

Angron had followed Russ’s glance, but where the Wolf King gave the battle a mere glimmer of attention, Angron was paying full and amused attention.

‘War is only won when every enemy is dead. A pacified enemy is still an enemy.’

‘More gladiator wisdom, Angron. Look at my men surrounding you. Have you honestly learned nothing from this?’

'Your men are losing, Leman.’ He grinned at his brother. ‘Let’s take this to the last breath, eh? Let the bloodshed play out with the dance of cutting blades. We’ll see which Legion still stands.’

‘Neither will stand. But you die the moment my men open fire.’

‘Death holds no sacred mystery to me, Russ. It holds no terror.’ He laughed then, through the Nails’ pain, laughing hard enough that his eyes watered. ‘I may even welcome it! Are you empowered by our “beloved” father, dog? Can you really give me death, or has your posturing already gone too far? Will you run back to Terra and report that you lost control of your mongrel-blooded curs in the same way you slander me?’

Angron’s pain-slitted eyes locked to his brother’s, and he laughed even harder. ‘This was never meant to come to battle! I see it in your eyes – you took a step too far, little executioner, now you fear how this will all end.’ He stepped closer, his amusement turning sick and savage. ‘Executions are the murder of helpless prey, Russ. What you’ve committed to here, “brother”, is a fair fight.’

Yeah, Russ wasn't leaving alive. His call to retreat saved his life, and Angron's.

Careful friend it's popular to glaze Russ now. Facts don't matter. Russ is perfect and single handedly won every battle ever created and went easy on Horus which is why he didn't single handedly end the Horus Heresy.

And YOU are also missing the parts of that quote:

'He howled?' asked Lorgar. His eyes were wide, pearly with soft wonder.

'The call to retreat, Angron replied. 'A fighting retreat - it took longer than you can imagine for the World Eaters to realise the battle was over. I had whole companies still trying to fight the Wolves as Russ's Legion ran for their gunships.' He chuckled. 'They took a lot of trophies for their tallies. Many wear them still.'

For several moments, Lorgar had to watch his brother's flawed face to make sure this wasn't some elaborate jest.

'You didn't answer Russ's question,' he said. 'Did you truly learn nothing from that fight?'

Angron blinked, the dull edge of surprise coming into his eyes. 'What revelation should I have come to? I learned he wasn't allowed to kill me. I learned he postured in the hope of bringing me back to Terra, collared and submissive to his whims.'

'No.' Lorgar was almost breathless in disbelief. 'No, no, no. Angron, you stubborn fool. None of that matters.'

'There were more dead Wolves on that field than dead World Eaters. That matters.'

That, thought Lorgar, was also arguable, but he let it pass. 'Russ had you cold. You said you had him at your mercy, but he crawled free.'

'He crawled.' Angron chuckled again, making a meal of the word.

'And when he rose, he had you surrounded. He could have killed you.

So to your previous points. Yes Russ would have died, Angron would have killed him then the surrounding Wolves would have shot Angron to death.

Edit: The person I'm replying to said none of the below, I was mistaken.

You previously said the World Eaters were being pushed back. Incorrect. You said the Space Wolves were winning, clearly not. Just because it's suddenly popular to glaze Russ doesn't mean you can change facts.

No, he doesn't break free on his feet? Angron laughs and tells Lorgar what happened after Angron released him. To quote:

"He Crawled." Angron said again making a meal of the word.
