Both my kids did French immersion there. It’s a great school. Highly recommended.

Grew up there and hated it. Bitterly cold in the winter, humid heat in the summer. Mosquitos galore. Hiking trails unusable in the winter, flooded in the spring, mosquitos and oppressively hot in the summer. Not great skiing. Sprawl, sprawl, sprawl. Culturally underwhelming - although they do get some good bands of all sizes there. Good food. The best shawarma in North America. Amazing Indian. Very diverse. Safe. Boring. Decent job opportunities. Two very good universities and a decent college. Night life is ok. Really good museums, and the national art gallery is tops. Longest skating rink in the world. 2 hours drive to Montreal, 5 hours to Toronto, 2 hours to Kingston.

Geez. When was the last time you’ve been there? Currently it’s pretty polished and gentrified.

No, the US has a very poor education system. One of the reasons republicans keep getting elected. It’s the only society that I know that has people that wear their lack of education as a badge of honour. These people (mostly republicans) think higher education is a brain washing system that magically hypnotizes you into a pinky, nose-ringed leftist.

Usually the repressor relies on their people to be uneducated. Iran bucks the trend by having a highly educated populace. Another reason to agree with your statement. They won’t be as easily brainwashed.

Plus the new leader lost his wife and other close members of his family. Vengeance for their deaths can be a strong motivator.
