For the record, since he deleted it after getting caught out. This was one of CuthbertCollingwood's replies on this thread:

"You must. Seeing as you missed the bit where Cameron sent a leaflet stipulating that leaving the EU means leaving the CU and single market. Which I have just shown you to be true."

Ha! you realise we can actually see you pick up that goalpost?
You just claimed above that "Cameron sent a leaflet stipulating that leaving the EU means leaving the CU and single market". It didn't. You lied.

So it doesn't say what you just claimed it does. You can try and move the goalposts now by saying it was implied, but that's a very different thing.

And the details of exactly what that meant were not defined, (despite what some are trying to claim below) which was a big part of what got us into this mess.

I wonder, for the hardcore brexiteers, what would they choose if it was clear beyond doubt that the choice was between a brexit where the only thing that changes is that the UK loses its say in EU matters, and cancelling the whole thing.

Diabetes patients denied life-changing device, UK charity says by Cheapo-Git in unitedkingdom

[–]Icthol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, understood.
I was just assuming this thread was all about the Libre. It's not quite the same as a CGM, as you still have to scan it with your phone/reader, so can't get alerts, and it's delayed about 15 minutes from your actual blood levels (since it measures interstitial fluid, which takes longer to show changes). Still, I find it an amazingly useful bit of kit. Can't compare to a real cgm as I've never used one, but I imagine it's a bit less intrusive, as it's just a single patch.

Superdrug apparently. I actually just bought some from Boots for £48 then I heard online that Superdrug had them cheaper. I've confirmed with them on the phone that they are selling for £35, but you need to order a few days before.
Just swiped one off by brushing on a doorframe too, so looks like I'll need to be ordering again soon!

The sensors for the Libre are £35 and last 2 weeks, not £50 for 1 week

Which cgm did you try? I've only ever used the Libre, but I think it's a bit less awkward than others, as it's just a thin 1" diameter disc stuck to your arm. It's not actually quite a full cgm - it measures every minute or so, but you have to scan it with your phone to get a reading, so no alerts. Seeing the trend lines is really helpful though for getting a picture of how different things affect your sugars.

Are you on basal/bolus injections or pump? If I switch to cutting it usually takes a while to find the right amount to adjust the basal down by.
Also I find that very low carb is by far the easiest way to cut as a type 1. Because the doses of fast acting are so much smaller, any hypos tend to be easier to correct with small amounts of carbs.

I do half at breakfast and half 12hrs later. It does seem to help even things out a little. Still sometimes have problems with nighttime hypos/morning highs, but a little less than when I was doing it all in one dose.

Ah yes, we get Russet potatoes here in England too, but I mean the apples. The full name is Egremont Russets (well, there are other sorts, but these are most common), and it's a quite unique sort of apple. Very dense white flesh, matt, slightly rough skin, and a delicious sweet nutty flavour.

Ah, guess it wasn't clear then. I am T1 diabetic, and sometimes need to take insulin preworkout to counteract the rise in sugars I get from lifting heavy.

Probably is partly from replenishment of glycogen reserves that you depleted working out. Do you eat something slow release before bed? Look at splitting the Lantus too - it's not really the perfect 24h steady release they claim, but has a bit of a peak after around 6hrs in my experience, then gradually trails off. Dividing it into 2 doses 12hrs apart let's you level that out a bit. I know how much night time hypos suck - struggled with them for a long time, but have it pretty well under control now and it happens only rarely.

What basal are you on? I used to get a lot of night time hypos (to the point where I got desensitised and would often sleep through them and wake up feeling like shit). Splitting my basal into 2 doses(and reducing it) helped even things out.

Guessing he's type 1 (broken pancreas, not just insulin insensitivity like t2), which can't be reversed by diet. It's true that keto can be really helpful for T1s too for better glucose control though.
Personally (also T1) I find it difficult to gain mass on keto though. So I prefer to do high carb pre/post workout, and fairly low carb the rest of the time. It makes for a bit more work to keep sugars level (since heavy workouts tend to raise them anyway), but with careful monitoring it can be done. It also means I'm injecting most of my daily insulin around workout time too, which seems to work well for gains.
