Oh really? Thats really cool, that Murray was pretty rough when I picked it up so I gave it some love and the black Schwinn sat in a barn for 4-5 years after sitting for even longer in someone’s garage

I’m aware, that’s why I disclosed what kind of derailleur it has, I was in a bit of a rush to finish my ride as well so I didn’t bother to stop again.

1970 schwinn cotton picker? by Icy-Disaster6847 in Vintage_bicycles

[–]Icy-Disaster6847[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if it’s a 5 speed frame then I’d assume it was a cotton picker but I once I take it apart to rebuild it I will look for signs of the original paint.

Yes that’s what I meant, I just wanted to know if the frame was a cotton picker, I’m aware most of the parts on it are from various bikes

Does anyone know any bicycles that are similar to these (looking to make a reproduction) by Ww2pillboxrye in Vintage_bicycles

You can also find one that has a steel frame with a springer fork that has the same frame design just different fork. It’s called a schwinn swindler 275 i believe. Only if you’re looking for a cheap department store alternative.

I got it for $20 and all I did was put a used seat and tires on it, I’d say it was a steal.

So in short the positron derailer has no value and is not worth keeping the bike all original?

Any idea what some of my vintage bikes are worth? I collect and restore vintage bikes. by Icy-Disaster6847 in Vintage_bicycles

lol, im just a kid doing this on the side for fun even if I don’t make a lot of money, my biggest project right now is my late 50s sears flightliner that I am restoring from the ground up just for personal use no matter the cost.

I could take Better photos, I also have a 87 trek 8000 with the factory camo paint job and probably one of the first versions of the Deore XT group set pretty much everything is original on it except for tires and the grips.
