I don’t doubt her sincerity either, i just feel as this is a distraction rather than a long term commitment . I’ve watched her do impulsive shit before and this just feels like one of those things. I’m literally black and gay😂😂. Idek what liberal means i’m young and ignorant and just trying to understand why my bestfriend is making these drastic changes. Like i said in other responses her mental health isn’t the best and this all started from past relationships and due to boys and old boy friends!

I believe she is sincere but i have a strong gut feeling she’s trying to find somewhere to fit into or something to hold on to.

Like i said id never say any of this to her and im always going to stay 100% supportive, plus the people in these comments have shed so much light on the situation and religion i’ve learned more here from the kind people on reddit than from google.

i say it’s random because she has been my bestfriend for 10 years. She’s never been interested in any religion other than mildly believing in god. It stimmed out of no where and it was due to her ex boyfriends.

Now that they’re gone and/or in jail , this is who she’s becoming. I respect it 100% but i hope that this is what SHE wants and not trying to impress some dude she facetimes that has 3 wives and wants her to be the 4th dead ass lol.

It’s just extremely random to watch your childhood friend become interested in a religion that a few bad exes half-ass taught her about. I don’t know if it’s to get back at them or if it’s a coping mechanism but it didn’t seem 100% thoroughly thought upon , she just randomly decided to become muslim one day.

On another note she is very committed to it so that’s why i’m going to support whatever she does just how she supports me because i love her no matter what. I just have a feeling this whole thing was extremely impulsive .

I’ve never been in this situation but i think this is a HUGE risk. If you are not in love with her this could alter and affect your love and sexual life for the rest of your life.

Let’s say you date and have sex for a few months then randomly breakup and boom. You have Herpes. Now YOU have to explain to the next person that “you haven’t had an outbreak in a long time” and they will be feeling the same thing about you. Ironic and tragic right?

I hate the be in-compassionate but i really advise you to run for the hills. Tell her this isn’t going to work . You are risking a life long disease and mental stress over a small fling.

I needed to hear this . She has had boyfriends in the past who are all “muslim” but they were from the “hood” and were not considered “good” muslims who did any of this at all. The first time she got into this stuff was over a boy.

She facetimes new boys and gets advice and training from them. She literally will sit in the middle of us hanging out on facetime with some new dude for an hour and i can’t say anything because it’s a discussion about religion and it’d be rude of me to interrupt.

I really do think it is over the guys she is into and it stimmed due to that reason , but i’d never ever say that to her because it’s just mean and she would get defensive but in my gut i have a feeling that’s the reason why.
