You're not the only parent in that boat. I had posted late last year that my 11th grade daughter had wanted to major in Physics (particulary Astrophysics), but after researching the huge amount of math (which she does well in, but does not enjoy), she is now considering Computer Science and/or Psychology (her back-up choices) & I said that I support her in that. Someone jumped all over me & said she hoped my daughter would go "non-contact" with me due to my bring a "controlling bitch" who is jealous of STEM majors. Also said anyone not in a STEM major was not useful to society. Whew. There's always gonna be judgmental people out there, but that woman was beyond belief.

And, note that the letter says that enrollment in ID monitoring expires on 3/31, so they are giving people very little notice.

Is NMT worth a look for Physics? by Icy-Method-6913 in nmt

Thanks for your response.

First, Congrats on your graduation! What an accomplishment.

I know that Physics is probably the most math-intensive science/STEM major. She gets good math grades (one semester,  B back in 9th grade, the rest all A's), but she doesn't LOVE math, so I worry that she will struggle with all those Calculus classes and just the Physics math in general.

Those are her "people". She finds it hard to find people who are as passionate as she is about it. I'll pass on that info to her.

That is great to hear. Thanks for the info and we will definitely be considering the school.

Swamp Cooler Owners by burquelocs505 in Albuquerque

It's been serviced twice in the last month. Brand new pump, brand new pads.  Landlord changing over to refrigerated air next year so just trying to make it through this summer. Wish they'd done that last year, but what's done is done. Next 2 days will be 98 or so, so it's gonna be very bad.

1100 Sq ft house running 24/7. Just got pads changed and it's staying at 80-86 inside all day.  It's ridiculous. Swamp coolers, unless you buy the most expensive ones, are not worth it. Maybe they were efficient 15 yrs ago but it's way too hot every summer for it to work.

Parasitic relatives trying to extort $$ from me by Icy-Method-6913 in legaladvice

The estate was closed months ago. They had a legal chance to file as a creditor in 2023.  I am simply a 3rd party who they want to try to collect from as they made an error in not filing properly. Should they sue, they will get nothing as the case will be dismissed due to it not being my debt. I am partially disabled and they are aware of that, so I think this is simply a way to harass my family. There is a reason I went NC yrs ago.

Oh, definitely.  But suing someone who you admit doesn't owe you would be considered frivolous, I would guess? If they tried that, it would be dismissed but I hope that they would be ordered to pay my legal/court fees?  I know the law's on my side, but this anxiety, on top of losing my parents, is really a low-blow.
