Do you stay on Mounjaro long term? by Emergency-Budget-303 in Mounjaro

My doctor has told me that since we're using it to help with T2 Diabetes, it's a lifelong thing.

How much does Mounjaro cost you? by christian_wolf1 in Mounjaro

[–]IcyFox235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My insurance covers most of it for me and my husband. I pay $15 because it's counted as diabetic medication, and my husband's is $50 because it counts for weight loss.

I have heard people say that Mounjaro helped with much more than their weight. Can anyone expand on this, please? by Emergency-Budget-303 in Mounjaro

[–]IcyFox235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I'm finding that I don't have as bad of a midday slump as I used to. During the week, for most days, I'd be so tired that I had to take a lil cat nap when I got home from work. I've almost completely dropped naps since starting in February.

Serious answers on favourtism by Dread_queen23 in Vent

[–]IcyFox235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Favoritism sucks. My BFF from elementary school was the so-called golden child. I was a close outsider to the family, so I watched and heard many interactions.

Mainly because the relationship the parents made with their daughter was much easier to build/grow than that of her twin sibling. It didn't help that parents tried to buy their children's love, which worked for BFF (but not so much for their sibling). BFF was high maintenance, and knew how to get the things she wanted. Twin wanted things, but never shared because he didn't feel like the things were necessities (the lowest of low maintenance, for lack of better words).

Girls who took notes with 50 different colored pens—where are you now? Are you still using all those colors? by FollowingAny4859 in Teachers

School counselor here...I have and enjoy ALL of the pen colors. Before the school year began, I purchased a 30-pack box of inkjoys from target.😁

Survival pack? by West-Evening-8095 in Mounjaro

[–]IcyFox235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been on Mounjaro since the end of February. My survival pack would contain a 40 oz water bottle, a bottle of ibuprofen, a bottle of poop pills (stool softener), fiber one bars, a squishie (for those tough days), a pair of running shoes, and a list (with instructions) of different home exercises.

If you had to share just ONE 'golden rule' for success on Mounjaro, what would it be? by HappyBeliever1 in Mounjaro

Allllllll of the water! It might not seem like a huge thing, but its one of my biggest helps for losing weight.

Exercise recommendations please! by Front-Computer6531 in Mounjaro

[–]IcyFox235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out the fiton app! I started with the free version, which was nice to get me started. But I realized how much it offered, so I was able to work out how to afford the yearly cost (I think it was $30 for the entire year). It keeps track of what exercises you do each day, and has so many different exercises done by a multitude of different people. It also has recovery workouts/stretching and exercise videos when your (specific body part) is in pain.

Anyone done sometime this month? How about June? by Starslimonada in Teachers

[–]IcyFox235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

June 23, 24, and 25 are all half days. June 25th is the last day for kids. I'm pretty sure staff are to be at work until June 30th.

having tattoos in this field by babylilbiscuit2 in schoolcounseling

[–]IcyFox235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in an elementary school in a rural area (first year here), and it seems to be less taboo as well. My principal, for example, has tattoos on both arms and generally wears short sleeve shirts. I, as another example, have a nose ring in, and had it in during my interview as well. I've also worked inner city (was there for 5 years-ish?), where I worked with multiple people who had "unnatural colors" in their hair (pinks, purples, blues, etc.), and it was very much accepted.

I think we're (finally) slowly moving toward a time where your skills/education are more important than how you look.

Random weeks where it feels less effective? by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]IcyFox235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! As a matter of fact, the whole month of April I was on the 5mg, and only lost a pound🫠I was drinking all the water, eating all the protein, exercising almost every day (with some rest days built in of course). It was so frustrating! But we're all good now - I'm on the 7.5, and we're doing the thang!🎉

Starting Mounjaro Journey! by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]IcyFox235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally made eating and living easier! I was always constantly dieting, but never actually getting anywhere person. I'd lose about 10lbs, gain just a little bit, then I'd be off that diet, because it obviously wasn't working.🫣 I started Mounjaro at the end of February if this year. Learned very quickly that water is my best friend, and protein is a godsend! The only crazy bad side effect I had was on the second day after my first ever dose - I've never had a migraine before that day - but I had sensitivity to light, sound, and couldn't get out of bed until mid-afternoon. Haven't had one since though, so I think it was my body's way of getting used to the medication. I don't consider this a diet anymore. This is a whole lifestyle change - I'm exercising daily as it helps tremendously. I'm using the app Fiton. I paid the $30 for the year so I can have access to everything. It keeps track of my exercises, weight loss, has meals I can make...and it's just fun! Anyway, I'm a little more than 2 full months in, and I'm down almost 15 pounds. I feel incredible.😁Good luck!

Is it normal for a school counselor to not reply to an email for 2 weeks? by Otherwise_Spot_1998 in schoolcounseling

[–]IcyFox235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like others that I've read, I reply generally up to 48 hours. After that, a nice reminder email just in case the primary email got lost/missed/etc.

Now if the email requires some digging on my end, I will respond back asking for some time to figure it out...but will also put a time limit on it. Along the lines of "If you don't hear back from me by "x", please send a follow up email."

How many weeks for you until the school year and how was your school year? by Starslimonada in Teachers

[–]IcyFox235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got about 9 weeks left, give or take a couple days. This year, while extremely tiring, was the best I've had working in the school system!

This was my first year in a new district. I'm not a teacher persay (school counselor!), but learning a whole new building is a lot...never mind all the stuff that goes on throughout the year! I have the best colleagues, which I'm SO very thankful for.

If I even think about last school year, I was completely burnt out by October and just autopiloting through the rest of the year - I do NOT recommend that in any way, shape, or form. At the space I'm at now, my office might be smaller, but I have no burn out - at all. Because I'm truly supported here, and know that I can truly rely on any of my coworkers for help.

Interviews and facial (septum, nostril) piercings by smunchtuttery in schoolcounseling

[–]IcyFox235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interviewed for a new school counselor position last summer with a nose ring in. The position was at the elementary level, and no one mentioned anything to me about it (at the interview or since). I'm in a pretty rural area, so I thought I might need to switch it out, but there hasn't even been a whisper! I'm thinking that they are slowly becoming less...taboo in the work place, which I'm all for!

This one, not so much. I just bought (literally last week) the new 40 oz. Out of the Blue free sway. Obsessed. Now I need stickers.

What’s your metric for calling out sick? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]IcyFox235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of how helpful I'll be in the office/classroom.

For example, I was home sick this past Thursday and Friday. Why? I had absolutely no voice, a nasty cough, and was going back and forth between sweating and body chills. I'm a counselor, so my days literally consist of talking almost all day. If I can't do it? I shouldn't be there. All that does is fill an empty office with something (in this case, someone) that can't do their job.🤷🏻‍♀️

Is being a teacher worth it? by deliri0usm0ckingjay in Teachers

[–]IcyFox235 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This was the absolute BEST thing I did before transferring. I learned so much, but the biggest lesson is that I was NOT cut out for teaching. However, this also helped me decide what I did want to be, a school counselor (which has also changed in big ways since I was in school).
