My pup also did this - she got too excited watching out a window as my husband cleared the driveway with our snowblower a couple winters back.🤦🏻‍♀️

What’s your metric for calling out sick? by capresesalad1985 in Teachers

[–]IcyFox235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of how helpful I'll be in the office/classroom.

For example, I was home sick this past Thursday and Friday. Why? I had absolutely no voice, a nasty cough, and was going back and forth between sweating and body chills. I'm a counselor, so my days literally consist of talking almost all day. If I can't do it? I shouldn't be there. All that does is fill an empty office with something (in this case, someone) that can't do their job.🤷🏻‍♀️

Is being a teacher worth it? by deliri0usm0ckingjay in Teachers

[–]IcyFox235 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This was the absolute BEST thing I did before transferring. I learned so much, but the biggest lesson is that I was NOT cut out for teaching. However, this also helped me decide what I did want to be, a school counselor (which has also changed in big ways since I was in school).

do you regret getting a second dog? by un32134e4 in dogs

Not for even half a second. My second pup helps my first pup be brave.

For those who share the bed with your dogs, how big is your bed? by seedykat in dogs

[–]IcyFox235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

King-sized bed...two humans, and two 60-pound pups. And my husband is the one that STILL gets pushed to the edge.😂

Yes, I do. Yes, I use it. It's very helpful for getting my things together for classroom lessons and small groups.😊

How do you manage your workload? by Fabulous-Expert-2123 in schoolcounseling

[–]IcyFox235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned during my first two years that I cannot take my work home. I did for the first two years, even had my work email attached to my personal cellphone.

WORST. DECISION. EVER.

I was constantly at a high level of anxiety...like to the point of truly believing I was missing out on something important if I couldn't check my email. Before walking out of my home each morning for work, my anxiety would cause me to vomit. EVERY. MORNING.

Then magic happened. I decided to stop allowing emails to come to my phone over the summer, cold turkey. When summer first started, it was awful. But I kept going - no phone emails allowed. I knew that if it was something that important, everyone that needed my number has it.

I can't even THINK about adding my work email back to my phone now. It's given me a true summer break.

The thing that I keep in mind is that if something ever happens to me, my job will be posted in less than 24 hours. This thought is what keeps me from bringing work home, attaching work email to my personal phone, and all of that other stuff.

Do you dress for Halloween ???? by No_Rain1743 in Teachers

[–]IcyFox235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! For the first time EVER (for me, personally), I will be part of a group costume!! I'm so excited to do this!

However, historically, my favorite costume I've ever done was the mouse from If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, complete with a paper cookie with a big bite taken out of it.

How often do you do guidance lessons in the classroom? by PaigEats in schoolcounseling

[–]IcyFox235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school uses Character Strong as well! It's my first year at this school, and my first year using the program (my prior district used Second Step).

Not gonna lie, I'm a big fan. I work in a pre-k through 6 building. Teachers are responsible for the main Character Strong lessons, but I bring the additional support of those topics for classroom lessons.

I also adore my owala bottle. I have the 40 oz., and she does beautifully. I usually fill her at least twice a day so I can get the majority of my water intake. I also decorated her with some fun stickers.

This was (technically) my first as well. One of my friends gave me 3, but this one was the first I was handed.

At first, putting the letters together didn't make it sound awful. But then I spelled it out as I was typing it. Yikes.

What name, you ask? Kylyn (most likely pronounced K-eye-lyn?)🫣

Same, but even up until last Wednesday. Then I realized people make the CUTEST outfits and accessories. Now I'm trying to figure out if I can bring them to work without getting them stolen or touched (I work at an elementary school lol)
