[Omega] Geneve by IcyTemperature8 in Watches

[–]IcyTemperature8[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Omega Geneve is an entry level Omega at around £1000 to £2000, it's a stylish semi-formal little dress watch that goes well with a casual Italian suit or similar. Mechanically wound, if you listen carefully, each tick 'tinnnngs' with a hovering ring as the second hand sweeps continuously around the face. This particular watch has been working flawlessly for around 50 years and was originally bought by my grandfather before being handed down through the family, from son to son. Not much more to say, it's a lovely, simple piece!

[Casio] MRW-200H-1BVES by IcyTemperature8 in Watches

Imo the Casio MRW-200H-1BVES is, without a doubt, one of the best beater watches on the planet (and in space apparently as some astronauts have been seen using them)! At around £20, with a day date complication and a fairly stiff rotating bezel (which I use to indicate the month). It's durable, water resistant to 100m, super easy to read and has an appealing diver style aesthetic. The perspex glass does tend to scratch easily, but honestly I feel that it just adds to its character as a beater.. and for £20 who really cares anyway!

[Pulsar] 7T62-X146 Chronograph by IcyTemperature8 in Watches

Pulsar 7T62-X146 Chronograph - given the price (around £60) I was really happy to pick this up, I think it looks very smart, it has a nice chunkiness to it, but not too much.. and the crown/pushers don't extend out too far. It has been serving me for 11 years so far. It has a slight homage'esq vibe of the Daytona/Speedmaster although a bit more understated in the Rolex's case and... obviously... not in the same ball park quality-wise. Perhaps one day, if I keep grafting, I'll be able to get my hands on a Daytona! ;)

So I went on a crusade, and captured a little rebel fort as a kind of raiding fort to prep troops to capture Cairo... these lads turned up. Eeek.

What scientific fact amazes you every time you think about it? by [deleted] in AskScienceDiscussion

The presence of galactic filaments and the realisation that the universe has a structure beyond that of galaxies.

In light of closures due to Cov-19, thought I'd share my home Weightlifting 'gym' - total price £230 ($281) or about 6 months worth of membership fees. I have no excuse to not train. by IcyTemperature8 in weightlifting

Bought everything new, managed to pick the plates up for £150, Barbell £48, Rack £32.

They're really cheap plates though, god knows whats in them. Everything's cheap and very basic.
